Started ballroom dancing June 2025. Gave lessons as gift to my wife for Mother's Day.
Initially it was very awkward as I have two left feet or more to the point, bricks for feet. Our instructor, and I believe all instructors are amazing. We've become beginner proficient at waltz, meringue, salsa, lindy, and foxtrot.
We love the lessons. Additionally we're making new friends as there is a dance party for all students and instructors at the end of every month. We dance together and with others for almost an hour and a half.
We also participated in one competition after only 2 1/2 months, which I really loved, as any type of test thoroughly motivates me. My wife, not so much leading up to event but had a wonderful time during and after.
While the cost is not insignificant, it is worth every penny.
We've found an amazing next chapter for the next stage of our already wonderful 42 years together.
I wholly recommend Fred Astaire to any and all.

25 years ago I responded to a flyer in my mailbox that was advertising ballroom dance lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studio. I’m still dancing. Over the years I have enjoyed everything the Bardonia studio offers. I have participated in group classes, private lessons, studio parties, student showcases, competitions, and studio trips. I have performed at community events, and been the MC of Dancing With Our Stars charity programs in Rockland County. If you are looking for a great social activity, with a built in bonus of great exercise, I can’t think of anything better than ballroom dancing at Fred Astaire Bardonia.

I’ve been taking ballroom dance lessons at the Fred Astaire Bardonia studio and absolutely love it! The instructors are amazing — they really know their stuff and are super friendly, patient, encouraging, great at explaining the steps and how I can personally improve. I’ve learned many styles like waltz, tango, rumba, salsa, swing, and hustle, and each one has been so much fun.

Every class feels relaxed and upbeat, and I always leave smiling (a little sweaty 😄) and feeling confident.

It’s a great group of students, too. Everyone is welcoming and supportive.

Dancing has also helped my posture and balance and become another really fun way to stay active.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn or improve your dancing skills or just want to try something new, I can’t recommend these lessons enough!

My wife and I have been taking classes at the Bardonia Fred Astaire studio for over two years, and it’s been one of the most positive experiences of my life. I’m 68 years old, and stepping into dance was definitely out of my comfort zone. But from the very first day, I felt completely welcomed and at ease—a wonderful feeling that has kept me coming back.
The atmosphere in the studio is uplifting, supportive, and full of encouragement. Every lesson feels like an escape from the outside world, and the hour just flies by. The teachers and staff are warm, caring, and genuinely dedicated to helping each student succeed. Their professionalism and passion for dance are inspiring, and yet they always keep the focus on enjoying the process and having fun.
I never set out to become a professional dancer, but I feel honored to learn from instructors who are true professionals with years of training. They know how to explain steps clearly, adjust to your pace, and still encourage progress with monthly socials and group events. Over time, it’s amazing to see how much you can actually grow as a dancer. We now dance at home and not just at the studio.
Dancing here has enriched my life in ways I didn’t expect, and I’m excited to keep learning and sharing the experience with my wife. Highly recommend!
