There was no wait. They got me right in. Great hospitality— the staff seemed like they were happy and wanted to do a good job. Great hospitality. Had me feeling better in no time. I was there a total of 2 hours. Only complaint is they could have had a nice lamp in the room

I had the worst hospital experience I’ve ever had at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. The only positive part of my visit was the nurse assisting my physician. She was kind, compassionate, and actually took the time to offer thoughtful advice. I truly appreciated her professionalism.
Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Gina M. Jiamboi was the complete opposite. From the moment she walked into the room, she came across as rude, dismissive, and condescending. I felt like my concerns were brushed aside instead of being taken seriously. Rather than listening to why I was worried or explaining her medical reasoning, she made me feel like my symptoms weren’t important.
She insisted on testing me for strep throat and mononucleosis even though I explained that I wasn’t experiencing symptoms consistent with either condition. As expected, both tests came back negative. When I asked about additional evaluation, including a CT scan, she refused, saying she didn’t want to expose me to unnecessary radiation. However, she then ordered neck X-rays, which left me confused about the reasoning. More than anything, I wanted a clear explanation and a collaborative discussion about my care, but I didn’t feel I received that.
What was also concerning was overhearing Dr. Jiamboi speaking to other patients in a similarly dismissive manner while I was there. It made me feel that the lack of compassion and communication wasn’t unique to my visit.
Patients come to the hospital because they’re worried and looking for help. Regardless of whether additional testing is appropriate, they deserve to be treated with respect, empathy, and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
I left feeling unheard, frustrated, and without confidence that my concerns had been properly addressed. It was a disappointing experience, and because of it, I do not plan to return to this hospital.

Not at all happy with our visit to St.
Mary’s emergency room. When you arrive with a 75 year old man who had been running a 102 degree fever and in pain you hope for a little compassion. After checking in with triage, you are told to have a seat they are ordering a CT scan. Almost two hours pass before being called for the scan. The technician said they would have the results in “about an hour”. After 2 hours we inquire as to what is taking so long and are informed there are others in front of us. When we questioned why we had not heard anything, Emily informs us that they shouldn’t have told us an hour. But they did, not our fault. During the entire visit (7 hours)my husband was not offered a warm blanket, a place to lie down or offered anything to make him comfortable. The waiting room was absolutely freezing. I
Also asked Emily, if there were any vending machines. “Nope” was her response. Then tells me to “step back”. After 7 hours we left without getting the results and will not be returning.

My experiences are normally really good and sadly one individual can give you an uneasy feeling while you’re already feeling bad. Everyone was exceptional minus the ER doctor. She asked me how long had I been having my issues, I said a few months, she then asked what’s a few. Really?? One nurse interrupted and said 2. Also coming close to discharge she stated all my labs were fine. I asked was there any trace blood in urine she said no. Well another lie along with multiple abnormal labs. Due to lupus and sjrogren I have to watch my blood work. I’m in medical and I take it seriously. She needs to sit with herself and rethink what she’s doing there. If I ever have to go back I’ll never see her. The nurses and every other person was great. SSM needs to make sure employees are carrying out your mission.

I came in to the emergency room by referral from an urgent care. The service and the time it took for them to get me back for vitals and speak to the doctor was incredible. Almost everyone was friendly, helpful and I know they got to me as fast as they could when they moved me into a room. Still same great service but the hospital seemed to be lacking in professional staff. They had to Call in a tracking MRI tech to perform the exam and to my knowledge my surgeon on staff was not notified. After many hours this doctor came in and explained thoroughly what the results were and suggestions on getting more home assistance. She impressed me. And I must include the beautiful blonde who was my nurse for the outstanding healthcare of the entire stay. But seriously the main complaint is when I was walking out the door on a cane struggling hard. There was a young gal at the security area. I asked her if there was someone who could make sure I made it to my car. Now this is on the borderline of St Louis City and I'm a disabled senior. She looked at me like I was crazy, didn't say a word even when I walked off saying nevermind I didn't mean to bother you! Needles to say I kept turning to both sides and then she was no where to be found. I don't believe that is safe for anyone. Will I go back to St Mary's. Yes to see my own surgeon and to have him perform surgery on me.
