He completed a residency and fellowship in pediatric neurology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He chose pediatric neurology after serving with a special needs ministry at his church and then with Special Olympics at the University of Georgia. He realized how much he could help this population. He continues to serve as a physician in the Army National Guard. He views pediatric neurology as a team sport, and he works closely with patients, their families and the rest of the team.
