I have always said that practicing medicine is not only a privilege, but also a craft best done with a team approach. Involving the input of the patient, family, nurses, and my colleagues makes for better care. I was raised in the Midwest in a large family that includes five brothers. My father often told us growing up that there are very few people who can say that they love what they do and enjoy going to work. I count myself in that minority.
