To the people that are accusing/have accused Russell Jewellers of scamming you, taking diamonds and replacing them with fakes, scratching your watches, etc. You should be ashamed of yourself for putting crap like this on a review.

Russell Jewellers has been around for MANY years and they do quality work with excellent service. They are always polite - and put up with all manner of customers that come in with unrealistic jobs/expectations that they want done which is difficult for them on many occasions, I am sure.

I take exception to the people that put rude, uncalled for comments on these reviews when they are truly unfair and totally false.

I have taken precious jewellery in for repair and I can guarantee they do not scam you, they do exceptional work at much lower prices than many other jewellers in town. If they were “scam artists” like the few that have written these false reports they would never have been in business this long.

PEOPLE - take it from me. Russell Jewellers is the place to go for watch batteries, repairs and purchases.

I took some watches, cuff links etc, that were my Dad's ( he has passed away) |I asked if I could learn if anything was of any value, one of the sons gave me his time, & opinions & basic assessment, all for nothing, I asked him what I owed and he said nothing. Where else in this day and age to you get friendly service at no cost. Hands down # 1 in my opinion, I will be back again and again, as I have in the past. Thank You !!!!

I had several rings sized at Russells. When I picked them up they looked like new . The prices were a fraction of what I would have paid at another jewelry store . Service was great and friendly. I was happy to be served by the same gentleman who served me 30 years ago when I bought my wedding ring . Great little shop, I highly recommend it

I have gone to Russell a number of times and recommend them highly. Their inexpensive charge for watch batteries is unbeatable. I took a Victorinox and Tissot for new batteries into a watch repair place downtown and they wanted $20 for the Victorinox and $45 to do the Tissot. Russell did them both for $8 and they work perfectly.
Russell repaired my Citizen Eco-Drive with a new crown shaft properly and at a reasonable cost. Don't go there for vintage watches or jewelry work, they are mostly a watch repair and maintenance shop which they do very well. I don't get these complainers, I never had a whiff of BS from them and everything was fair and aboveboard.
The owner has been in business for over 50 years, has seen every kind of watch so they must be doing something right.

Have gone to Russell's for watch battery replacements since 2010 when a friend referred me. He charges $4 + taxes for one battery compared to $14.95 and $18.95 at different Hudson Bay watch repair kiosks in the lower mainland. Today I got 2 batteries replaced at Russell's for less than what other places charge for one.

I entered this filthy looking "jewellery store" with a friend as we were in search of a vintage gold watch. we were greeted by a bearded, filthy and unstable looking man behind the counter. We personally didn't care as we were just wanting to see the watches rather than the unsightly atmosphere of the store. The overall attitude of the man started out very positive but slowly shifted as he became paranoid because we took our time browsing. He made small talk trashing the owner referring to him as "a bored old man who needs some hobbies" He then began rudely making false accusations that I was photographing his merchandise. initially, I took it as a joke because we had been extremely polite and kind. Next, he threatened us saying there were cameras within the store and that we were out of luck because he admitted in his paranoid state that all his watches were knock-offs from China. We were in shock and disbelief as we left the store. We had never been so insulted in our lives. It is a pretty hefty accusation to say that someone is "scoping the place for a robbery" HOW DARE YOU. We left in disgust and frustration because no one deserves this kind of sick treatment. I don't know whether it is organized crime or just a con business but I have heard many a time that this place ruins and steals jewellery and also provides fraudulent service(giving old watch batteries, damaging heirlooms etc.) DON'T YOU DARE accuse ANYONE of trying to steal your garbage. All I can say is to stay away from this place for your own good. I"ll be reporting these selfish scumbags to the authorities.

I have used Russell's to replace watch batteries and size down a ring. Never had any problems with their service and battery replacements. Battery replacement cost is very cheap. They charged 1/3 the price of a competitor. Competitor also would not guarantee the watch would not leak. Russell inspected the gasket and said no problem. Hasn't leaked yet. The batteries themselves are very low cost. If you constantly are using the watch functions, that would explain the shortened life. Not sure why the negative comments. Quite perplexing. The reviews are at both ends of the scale. I will continue to use them for watch battery replacements.

I had bought two matching opal stones in Mexico and wanted them made into drop earrings, a very simple design. I went to Russell's and we agreed on the design and he said it would be no problem, it would be $50 and would take a month. I returned in a month and he had made these horrible studs! I told him that I had wanted drop earrings and he was like, "Oh, couldn't do it." He refused a refund and then he hustled me out of the store. At the time I was only 22 years old and didn't fight back. I'm kicking myself for allowing myself to get bullied by this horrid man. I'm pretty sure he is the owner. Zero integrity. Can't believe this store is still in business. Would give a zero rating for the stars but the system won't let me.

Don't know where these negative comments of others are coming from but obviously they have and axe to grind as me experiece is exactly opposite. This man has the highest integrity and i would recommend his store to anyone . Keep up the good work

These guys are crooks, as others have posted.

I took a nice Longine watch there to have the battery replaced. As others have said, they change the battery so fast, however, they ended up scratching my watch when prying the back cover.

After he changed the battery he asked me to wait a minute to see if battery ok. The dials didn't move so he tried another battery, and still nothing. He says my watch probably needs maintenance and that it'd be $68 and includes 1-year warranty. I didn't have good vibes so I left the store.

I took my watch to another, more reputable place and they changed the battery and it works perfectly fine. There was no need for unnecessary repairs. They also pointed out the scratch before opening the watch. The guy at Russell's is a crook.

I warned other and somebody else told me that their watch battery only lasted 2 months after getting it changed at Russell's.

This business is a 50 year old family operated business. There is no way that they are crooks. I have been there many times and find them to be friendly, efficient, courteous and prompt with their service. Whoever accuses them of anything else needs their head examined. Think about it. You don't stay in business for 50 years if you are a crook. They are good people and I travel from Surrey to Richmond to use them rather than anyone else in the Lower Mainland.

Twice I've had my watch battery replaced here, and both times he gave me a half-dead battery. My watches will stop for no good reason now and again, which is obviously not so great if you want them to keep accurate time. He changes the batteries quick, that's about the only good thing I have say about him. Avoid this place!
