During her residency, she received the University of Maryland Resident Researcher of the Year award and an AOTrauma North America’s 2019 Resident Research grant. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. A strong believer in giving back to the community, Dr. Plate served as a mentor for the University of Maryland School of Medicine Orthopaedic Interest Group, a counselor at Camp Open Arms and a member of the University of Maryland Medical Center Orthopaedics Resident Education Improvement Committee. Dr. Plate believes in building trusting, open and informative patient-physician relationships.
