He received his medical degree with honors from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Mich. After completing a medical internship at the Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colo., he went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the University of Colorado Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute. He then completed his fellowship in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas.
