He completed his undergraduate studies at Princeton University and then returned to St. Louis to earn his medical degree from Washington University. He completed both his General Surgery internship and Ophthalmology residency at Rush University in Chicago. He then completed his fellowship in glaucoma at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
