Before joining Hoag, he was principal investigator for the Brain Health in Professional Athletes Study, the largest study of athletes exposed to repetitive head trauma. Dr. Ritter has authored or co-authored peer-reviewed manuscripts, delivered clinical presentations and keynote addresses, and contributed to textbooks on Alzheimer’s and dementia. It is an absolute pleasure to recommend Dr. Aaron Ritter for your psychiatric or neurological needs. My husband has been a patient since 3/23, this was shortly after Dr. arrived at Hoag.
Dr.Ritter has a demeanor that makes us feel relaxed and confident while dealing with this life changing journey. He always takes time to explain my husband’s test results and comes up with encouraging remarks. His positive approach helps us take a positive attitude as well.
He has shown compassion and dedication in guiding me (wife and caretaker) through the complicated maze of doctors and insurance.
Last year he hosted a CareGivers Seminar that was over the top helpful. The speakers, associations, and contacts were invaluable. I have saved the handouts and notes because I am in the early stages for what is to come.
Yes, I know he has a very long wait period. When he first came to HOAG it was 9/22. We couldn’t get in until March 2023. He is definitely worth the wait!

I had a similar experience to Jessica Lara. Dr. Ritter was recommended by Hoag Hospital to see right away. The office refused to make an appointment since I don't have Hoag insurance since they separated from Greater Newport Physicians (GNP) a year ago. The reason for the MRI was due to memory issues. Since I ended up in the ER at Hoag due to a minnie stroke with no symptoms I was told they wouldn't have seen me anyway. Not at all helpful.

We waited months to see Dr Ritter, but he is definitely worth the wait. So knowledgeable and validated my concerns about my husband. He spent time with my husband and I and sincerely cared about all of the things I was concerned about.

Dr Ritter is an absolute amazing doctor. It is few and far between that you can find a doctor that shows he cares and really means it. You are a very lucky patient if you end up with him. Thank you for your time and compassion Dr Ritter, you are the best!

I brought my father to see three neurologists in Irvine. Dr. Ritter is THE BEST. He spent a lot of time with my father patiently and followed by phone calls. He is compassionate and extremely responsible. You can hardly find any doctors like him these days. The other two doctors that we visited gave us five minutes then told us to book the next appointment which was several months away and my father's situation was quite urgent. Too bad we didn't know Dr. Ritter earlier. My father passed away recently unfortunately. Had he seen Dr Ritter earlier, he probably could live longer. I want to say THANK YOU to Dr. Ritter from the bottom of my heart!!!
