Any disruptions or conditions affecting the blood vessels can lead to serious health issues. One such condition that can impact vascular health is uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus. While they are typically benign, they can cause various symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and pressure on surrounding organs. In some cases, uterine fibroids may require treatment to alleviate symptoms and improve a patient's quality of life. One effective and minimally invasive treatment option for uterine fibroids is Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE). UFE is a non-surgical procedure designed to shrink or eliminate fibroids by blocking the blood flow to the tumors. During the procedure, a specially trained interventional radiologist inserts a catheter through a tiny incision in the groin and guides it to the blood vessels supplying the fibroids. Small particles are then injected through the catheter to block these vessels, causing the fibroids to gradually shrink and alleviate symptoms. UFE offers several advantages over traditional surgical approaches, such as hysterectomy or myomectomy. Read more
