He is an assistant professor of radiology and an attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Baig specializes in minimally invasive, image-guided treatments for conditions that range from cancer to spine and joint pain. Dr. Baig is one of the pre-eminent kyphoplasty doctors at Columbia and in New York City. As director of interventional spine for the Department of Radiology, he has extensive expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of back pain, using minimally invasive techniques that reduce pain, shorten recovery time, and allow patients to return to normal life as quickly as possible. Additional areas of focus for Dr. Baig include fibroid and prostate embolization, liver and kidney cancer treatments, knee embolization, IVC filter retrievals and placement, angiomyolipoma treatment, venous stenting, and many other vascular and interventional medicine areas. Dr. Baig is one of the physicians involved in Columbia’s HHT Center of Excellence. After graduating as one of the 15 most influential students at NYU, Dr. Baig attended medical school at Howard University. He completed his Internship in surgery at Northwell Health and his Radiology Residency at Nassau University Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Baig received his fellowship training in vascular and interventional radiology at Emory University. Dr. Baig serves as director of interventional radiology research for the Department of Radiology. He has authored numerous book chapters and research publications and given lectures and presentations at national and international conferences. He is an active teacher of residents and fellows and serves as medical student course director for interventional radiology.
