Went here a few weeks ago, I booked online in the middle of the day an appointment at 4:45 for a manicure with regular polish, and added an extra 15 minute service for a design and I added a comment saying I have natural long nails and wanted french tip.
When I came in, the girl at reception seemed confused about my appointment, even though I got email/text confirmation for the appointment. Once she understood what I came in for, she let me pick my color, which I thought was odd because I put in the comments that I wanted french, so that’s fine I will pick two colors. I then asked her if I pick the base shade or if they only paint the white tip since it is regular polish, because I have been to salons where if it is regular polish they will only paint white tips with clear polish, and I am fine with that. She said I can pick both colors, and okay awesome did that. As I am waiting for my appointment time, the nail tech who is going to be servicing me did not know she had a manicure booked. She asked the receptionist “did I just get a walk in?”, no, I booked at almost 1 pm. The receptionist told her no it is a booked appointment, and told her that I wanted regular polish with french tip, and they both seemed to be confused at the apparent miscommunication. Meanwhile they were having this conversation in front of me which was super unprofessional and weird, because now I feel bad for booking an appointment. Maybe the nail tech was ready to go home and she now has this magically appearing client. Okay so whatever, I still get serviced, however on the website it says a manicure takes about an hour, and it says to book extra time for a design, which I did. The manicure includes cuticle work, polish, massage, lotion, exfoliation, etc. It is $45. I did not book a mini manicure. The only thing I got was buffing/shaping of my nails, cuticle work, and polish. I did not get any of the other things listed which I thought was weird. So when I went to pay I still paid for the full $45 service. That’s not including tip/taxes.
The nail tech was great, she did a nice job for what she serviced me with and she was very nice. This is not on her, this seems to be on the booking system/receptionist because there was major miscommunication between her and the nail tech. It seems like when the receptionist told her I wanted regular polish/french, she took that literally, meaning it wasn’t a true “manicure” service.
If things can’t be done within a specific amount of time, then things shouldn’t be allowed to be booked that way online. There should also be some sort of phone call from the salon to confirm what exactly the client wants since the services on the website are not adhered to, also, another lady booked a last minute appointment maybe an hour after me, and she was unable to get serviced because she had gel on from another salon. I understand their policy of removal, but this is why the receptionist should call clients to confirm services. A lot of these issues/frustrations can be avoided if there was better communication from the receptionist to the people providing services and to the clients.
I do not like feeling like an afterthought and I don’t appreciate unprofessionalism because I wanted to simply book a regular polish manicure..I am paying money for a service, if it can’t be done cool, I can reschedule. If you don’t want clients showing up a few hours before closing, then don’t let them book online for those slots, those slots should be removed. There are too many nail salons in Rochester to deal with unprofessionalism. As petty as that sounds, I am paying money for services I did not receive. Therefore, I will be trying to find another salon.

Called today last minute & they were able to get me in within the hour to do some hair tinsel / fairy hair. Staff member was really friendly/personable & professional (I forgot her name!) Overall great experience and would definitely recommend. They use the beads not tie-in & it looks great!

I love the service at Maxim! I always go to Emma for my nails and I always love the results! The atmosphere’s super warm and relaxing, and the stylists and nail techs have all been super nice!

Nice little salon on the side of the street that was once a house, but I feel like they falsely advertised to me. I called to ask if any one of their stylists was comfortable working with fine curly hair.
It's so hard to find someone who can ... And to this day I don't think anyone really is able to.
I was assured that their stylists are capable of working with and comfortable doing so and yet.... They let me leave the salon looking like this. My hair not styled, frizzing as it dries. The stylist seemed confused on which product to put in my hair, and seemed not to know how to style it. I don't actually think she was comfortable working with my curl. She put her hands through it so darn much it whole diffusing, it turned into a frizzy mess. Everywhere I go they do that. They touch my curls to the point it becomes frizzy. They diffuse it frizzy, and tell me that's how it's supposed to be🤣.
feel like no one actually knows how to work with curls like mine and I was disappointed.
She echoed my thoughts that I needed more moisture, and the treatment she put in my hair for my scalp or whatever smelled nice but I feel like I left dryer than when I went in. I'm not super happy about the results and I'm not sure I'll go back.
But if you have straight hair go for it. Everyone else looked gorgeous. Everybody else got great cuts and styles. Just don't go here for hair if you have fine curly hair. Or if you don't wanna be teased into a fro. If you do, have fun! They're nice folks, cute shop, but not for my hair type.

Aubrey has done an amazing job every time I’ve gone in for a facial! She is incredibly kind, gentle, and attentive. She took such great care of my sensitive skin and made me feel completely comfortable throughout the entire experience.
I also really appreciated the tips, tricks, and product recommendations she shared for my at-home skincare routine, they have made a huge difference and helped keep my skin looking great!
I highly recommend seeing Aubrey, you definitely won’t be disappointed! 💖
