As he went through his residency training, having an opportunity to see first-hand how someone can be helped by a hand-surgical procedure left no doubt in his mind that he would choose this field. A procedure as simple as a carpal tunnel release can be life-changing for a patient. Returning function to patients with hand and upper-extremity related issues is extraordinarily gratifying, as virtually all people require use of their hands to a significant degree in their daily lives.
