Activities are fun! The nursing staff are very very helpful. Ms. Moss is a great nurse! The Physical Therapy here is top notch. I would recommend this facility to anyone for Skilled Rehab and I’ve been to a few other facilities that weren’t as great!

I would highly recommend Pomeroy Skilled Rehab Facility. My mom was very sick and spent two weeks in the hospital. She was extremely weak and needed to rebuild her strength so she could safely return home. She was then transferred to Pomeroy Skilled Rehab, and since this was our first experience with a rehab facility we were understandably very nervous.
From the moment she arrived the facility and staff exceeded our expectations. Her room was wonderful, and she was so happy to have plenty of space to move around and feel comfortable. The entire staff went above and beyond to meet my mom's needs and make her feel cared for, comfortable and valued.
Vince was especially wonderful. He made my mom feel special and important, and I cannot put into words how comforting that was for both her and our family. He even brought her favorite drinks and put them in her refrigerator so she could feel more at home. Those little personal touches meant so much to her.
The staff also encouraged my mom to participate in the daily activities, which truly made my heart happy. Seeing her become more engaged, stronger, and happier throughout her stay meant everything to our family.
My mom spent four weeks at Pomeroy, and during that time, the staff helped her rebuild her strength and confidence so she was able to return hone.
I cannot thank everyone at Pomeroy Skilled Rehab enough for the kindness, compassion, and exceptional care they gave my mom. We will always grateful for everything they did for her and for our family. I highly recommend Pomeroy to anyone looking for a skilled rehab facility where their loved one will be treated with genuine care and compassion.

Our family cannot say enough wonderful things about Pomeroy Living Rochester Skilled. From the moment our dad arrived for rehabilitation, we knew he was in caring and capable hands.
A special thank you to the incredible nursing team for the compassion and care they showed every day. Nurse Laura, Mrs. Rutherford, Mrs. Ward, and Mr. Dwight - thank you for your outstanding communication and for treating dad with such kindness and respect.
The therapy team was phenomenal and helped him get back on his feet and walking again. We are so thankful for Vince, the administrator, who checked on our dad often. That level of involvement meant so much to our family.
As health issues came up during our stay, the team communicated with us immediately, acted quickly, and involved the right medical professionals. We never felt like we were navigating difficult decisions alone. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the care our dad received.
One thing this experience reminded us is that the best outcomes happen when families and healthcare teams work together. We were there every day, supporting our dad, asking questions, communicating with the staff, and partnering with them throughout his recovery. They welcomed our involvement, and we truly felt like everyone was working toward the same goal, helping our dad heal and regain his strength.
THANK YOU TO THE ENTIRE TEAM!

Families if your loved one is substantially ill and cannot advocate for themselves, make sure you advocate for them and question the diligence with which the staff follows prudent processes at the Pomeroy Rehab in Rochester Hills. Your loved one’s fate, be it through mistake or willful neglect at the facility may be rationalized by the conviction that the patient had preexisting conditions and was about to die anyway, even if the cause of death was not due to the preexisting conditions, but rather by gross negligence or worse. Some care givers may even attempt to pin the blame for your loved one’s death back on you with no rational grounds to do so.
We chose Pomeroy for a 3-week rehab stay for my mother who had dementia, because we had unfortunately been stranded by the senior living facility my parents had paid $16K for their first month of stay and barely stayed at for under a week. Pomeroy was a stop gap to allow us time to find a suitable permanent facility. We chose it because of its rehab to help mobilize my mother with physical therapy and to manage her peg tube feeding.
Despite the well intentions and empathetic mindset of its top leadership and of its physical therapy staff, both of which seem authentic, the Pomeroy made some fatal errors in judgment in continuing the hospital’s practice to tube feed my mother through the night, despite rehabs typically lacking a hospital’s capabilities to monitor vitals through the night, and its staff lacking the diligence to make good choices on behalf of a patient who was unable to advocate for herself.
Despite much kindness shown to my parents by some at the Pomeroy rehab, including by top leadership, there was a clear lack of accountability and a general malaise in the treatment of my mother, perhaps one that might permeate many other senior care facilities as well, almost as if today’s senior care culture lacks empathy and personal accountability for those who cannot advocate for themselves.
The conversation on accountability very quickly became defensive, with the outcome or history unrelated to this incident being used to rationalize the cause.
The processes and staff at the Pomeroy failed my dear mother, and perhaps they would have failed her elsewhere as well. Unfortunately, there is a pervasive culture amongst many senior living facilities to expend the bare minimum energy in caring for those who cannot advocate for themselves. My mother endured and survived many episodes of botched care at various facilities, but this time the errors were fatal. This begs the question, is the senior health care culture so far gone, that a family cannot entrust a loved one to a care facility without independent 24/7 vigilance?
I’ll look to the consciences of those involved to hold themselves accountable for what happened to my mother at each of the facilities that failed her, including the Pomeroy. It saddens me to realize that the society we live in today owns accountability only if necessitated by legal action. My mother was not a vindictive person, and our family is not litigious. Nothing will bring my mother back to us, so we don’t believe in stooping to legal action. We do however believe in divine justice, call it karma or simply the natural order of the universe, and hope that people still have consciences that will lead them to make the necessary improvements to ensure that another patient does not meet the same consequences of incompetence, apathy and negligence or worse.

I am extremely disappointed with the care provided at Pomeroy. While some staff members were kind and attentive, the overall experience fell far below expectations.
Response times to call lights were often slow, and the staff was consistently sitting at the desk on phones/Ipads and eating. The facility itself was not as clean and well-maintained as it should have been. Bathrooms specifically were not maintained, and the fact that they share them with another resident would in my opinion require more frequent cleaning. One staff member responded to the call light and came in eating a bag of chips while the resident was in the bathroom.
Most concerning was the lack of attention to individual resident needs. What was promised was not delivered. PT/OT was very limited. Basic ADL's (bathing, brushing teeth) were not assisted with or completed. An unlabeled, filled syringe was found in the room and when I brought it to the desk it was dismissed quickly. Was that intended for the resident in the room? Another resident? Who didn't get their dose? One day I arrived to find my loved one wearing the same clothes as the day before. She had never been assisted into her pajamas the night before. She slept in her clothes.
The expected stay per the facility was 3 weeks! My loved one did not need extreme rehab, just getting back to baseline. They were independent prior to a fall. They would need to be there that long in my opinion because of the lack of consistent care. They allow residents to sit most days. Utilize wheelchairs, when they should be up walking, only furthering their weakness.
Based on our experience, I would not recommend this facility to others seeking quality long-term or rehabilitative care for their loved ones.
