I had FAI but it was mostly asymptomatic but was starting to give me some problems. My hip joint was in good shape. I wanted Dr Carter to just remove the cam fai part and stay out of the hip but he said he needed to get into the joint. I asked him if there was a chance this could make my hip worse and he said no that the surgery should not make my hip worse.

On the day of the surgery I told Dr Carter that my hip had been feeling well. After the surgery he told my girlfriend that I would need a hip replacement. Dr Carter did not see me after the surgery and I was not able to see him until about 3 months after the surgery. There was a problem with my appointment after the surgery. When I went to the office there was no one there who could take my stitches out so I removed the stitches myself.

Dr Carter never told me that there was a chance the surgery could make my hip worse. He did say that results were not as good at my age but that's it. Also Dr Carter did not require me to get an arthogram of my hip. I only got a regular MRI. I have had about 4 surgeries on my other hip and all the surgeons saw me after surgery and then about 3 days later. And all previous surgeries required a hip arthogram. Also the other surgeries were all good results for my hip.

I have more pain and disability with my hip now than before the surgery. This was my first surgery on this other hip. I made a very bad decision to get surgery from Dr Carter and wish I had not. Now I will need a hip replacement because of this surgery. I had no idea this was possible and am quite unhappy about it.

I do not recommend Dr Carter.

Dr Carter is an amazing surgeon. He is warm, knowledgeable, and expert in his technique. He has surrounded himself with a wonderful team who combine to make the surgical experience smooth with the very best outcome.

Dr. Carter was an absolute blessing to me. I had been jerked around, lied to, and sold any and everything by 3 different doctors at two different locations -- from X-rays on irrelevant areas, orthopedic inserts, PT for this/that, multiple injections (two out of pocket, both $500+), MRI & MRI +contrast, addendums, and being flat out told nothing was wrong or needed to be fixed. Dr Carter reviewed everything I brought with me and discovered on my initial visit what in fact was wrong and had me scheduled for surgery within roughly a month! He (and his PA, Leslie) are very knowledgable, very considerate, and so understanding! I could not be more grateful that they took me on as a patient with what I had been through.

I had a bursectomy with Dr Carter 5 years ago and I'm still in pain! I had a second surgery after getting an infection which I had been seen in the office for by his assistant on 2 different occasions who said it didn't look infected. Clean me up and send me home. The night I had to call an after hours Dr to explain my wound was oozing so bad i finally got antibiotics and am told to call first thing Monday and come in AGAIN. After I finally got in for Dr Carter to actually see he confirmed a bad infection. Last time I was seen because my hip still hurts after plenty of healing time went by, I was told I could try shots again done under an xray, but they could hit my sciatic nerve. I have been left disfigured since he had to take out more tissue than planned and again, still in pain. I went back to Dr Y who originally referred me to Dr Carter to see if maybe he could help, but because I apparently dont need a replacement he told me he was going to suggest an MRI to see if I needed to come back to him or not. The way he spoke those words to me was pretty much if it doesn't show anything then dont come back to me. I never had that MRI. I left that day and went to my car to cry. I feel like 2 of the best orthopedic hip Drs in Louisville has totally dismissed me. That neither wants to try to fix one failed surgery and another surgery I had to have for an infection and could have been avoided with antibiotics. I dont know where to go next. It seems neither wants to try to help me.😪

Dr. Carter done my hip surgery. I had my hip bone shaved down it has spurs on it. And also had torn cartridge. Doctor Carter has an amazing bed size manner and breaks them down so that even if you have never been to medical school you know and understand exactly what he was saying. He never treats you as a stranger and any issues you have rather it be pain or anything else he listens and helps you as best as he can. I'd recommend anyone to him. He is an amazing surgeon. 100% trustworthy and made sure I knew before the surgery it was going to be a hard and time consuming. But if I gave my all he would do the same. His nurse practitioner is absolutely amazing as well. One happy patient Naomi Robinson.
