Management in this building is amazing. They really care about their tenants and always do their best to make this building a happy place to live....and it is better than its ever been! I’ve lived here for a long time and before this couple came along I wanted to move out, but now that they are here, I’m staying! The building is always clean, always something going on to interact with other tenants, and their staff is amazing as well. They just did improvements to the front gardens and the tenants are actually helping as well. It’s a real friendly community and I can’t think of any where else I’d rather live!

There is new younger management at the El Mirador Apartments. Management with people skills. It is a joy to come in every day. The tenants have come out of their apartments and are enjoying mingling in every area of the building. The lobbies are no longer empty.

Having lived here for the past 2 years I can honestly say this is the best rental apartment I have lived in. Location is excellent as you can walk to many many stores and restaurants. As it is on Gage Avenue it is very handy to access highways via the Lincoln Alexander Parkway.
Recent changes in Management have only made things better and the new superintendents run the building almost like a social club with them initiating many events such as afternoon coffees hours and summer picnics. All apartments are refurbished when you first rent them (You may have to throw in a few dollars for specific improvements such as a dishwasher or above the stove microwave). Apartments are larger than normal and since the balconies have been closed in, even larger if you leave the patio doors open and remove the sliding windows to the balcony. There are regular euchre games and bingo in the refurbished games room and the pool is open all summer in July and August. I find that people are very friendly here and we have made a lot of friends due to the environment of the building. and last, the underground parking is excellent!

The management has not people skills, you DO NOT post a notice stating a staff member has been FIRED and her husband has quit. Kudos to the staff member for sticking to her guns! As they were the ones really looking after the building. I am very sad that this couple is leaving, they were pleasant and hard working. The real "manager" has no freaking clue how to run a building. The way she talks to "people that may move in is a hoot. She even told tenants that the floor they were on was a non smoking floor. Meanwhile, my parent lives on the floor and said no there are at least 3 tenants that smoke.
The property has gone so far down hill it is not funny. It is not safe to walk around the grassy area. There are large size rocks and deep ruts where you can easily turn your ankle. The garbage in the bushes is un real, never mind the steel rods that are sticking out of the grass.
I have witness elder abuse with the superintendent and have heard of other cases from my parent. PLEASE PLEASE do not let you elderly parents live in this building as they should have to put up with the physical ( yes physical ) and verbal abuse from this management.

I've lived in this building for ten years and since the new supers have taken over with new staff this building is so clean and a lot of renovations have been made. There was a lot of tenants who showed negativity cuz they didn't like change and rules. Would you rather see it run down . I would like to say thank you to the elmirador management for making it a a nice place to live in Hamilton . I would recommend this building to anyone .

I have been reading all the negative reviews and i think with all the negativity and disgruntled tenants to me it sounds personal and don't like change. The new superintendants have cleaned up the the building ,if you go anywhere else think twice because you will not find a friendly and clean environment. My mother has been there for 6 years and the building was looking rundown with old management. With this new management I;m very happy that my mom can live in a clean and friendly environment. So i thank-you for making the el mirador a nice place to live

Everyone is complaining about stuff that tenants have been getting away with even though it is clearly written in the lease paperwork they sign before they move in. The building has gone through a lot of major changes the past couple of years and a lot of repairs and upgrades have been completed and the building is looking better than ever. The superintendents overall have made quite a difference in the way the building looks and operates.

OMG, image 2 weeks without a laundry room, yes that is some of the crap that is going on with these superintendents. Spent the hottest week in July without an air conditioner. Yes, the superintendents decide to get the windows fixed in the summer. In a building that is 75 % seniors it is horrible. My apartment was a 87, really Environment Canada stated that this was going to be a hot summer. Try walking around the grounds, the weeds are 2 feet high and the grass is burnt. Pray that you do not have to get out of the undergound fire exits, as you can't the weeds/trees are blocking the exit.
This was a nice building, now it is one of the worst I have lived in. The superintendents, thoughts are "if you do not like it move out".

The building itself is in good shape and well maintained with the other tenants being friendly and nice.

The problem lies with the current superintendents. If you need any help no matter how small, be prepared to pay to have it done. If you have a concern or complaint be prepared to have the superintendent cover their ears and make noises like a child.

To make matters worse the superintendents have a "my way or the highway" attitude when a conflict does arise. This will lead to them telling you to move out if you don't like their rules.

It is sad to see this happening to the building as it is in a great location with many amenities nearby. With new managers it would be a great building to live in again.

I agree with you, the attitude of manager and superintendent is awful' she thinks she is the "boss" and she is only an employee. they don't seem to care about tenants, and I hope we get compensation for all the "don't do this and don.t do that that they think is "law" wrong, read the tenants act..you are way out of line also you have some of the elderly tenants scared of eviction..time to say bye-bye this apartment used to be very good with a lot of happy tenants now it is just awful

I also agree with you in regard to the attitude of the manager and superintendent. This building need new management with people skills. It also needs staff that can do basic duties that a superintendent needs to complete. A tenant should not have to wait a year for minor repairs to closets or doors. Their attitude is that did you write it "down". Still waiting for it to get fixed. The elderly tenants are so scared of losing their homes that they are putting up with no air conditioning in the hottest summer in decades. There is no where for some to go, no area that they can sit and cool off. It is so sad the way this management team are treating the elderly. It is elder abuse in my eyes.

Since the previous reviewer commented in January 2014, the building has new superintendent /managers. I have lived in this building since 2008. In December 2014 through February 2015, both my husband and I required visiting health care workers and we had eight of them coming daily within a 24 hour period. They had no problem getting into the building. There are no parking spots in front of the building, only a circle driveway and two spots for deliveries. It is also the entrance for emergency vehicles. With over 200 tenants, this area has to be restricted for that purpose. There is plenty of parking in the visitors' lot behind the building. Lots of salt is used on any ice that forms during the winter and they are prompt in attending to it. The location of this building is superb, close to two bus lines and shopping on three corners of the street, including two grocery stores, drug store, coffee shop, banks and restaurants. There are delayed cross walk signals at the corner. The management is currently upgrading and redecorating throughout the building. I moved from a two bedroom to a one bedroom suite within the building in July 2015 when my husband was admitted to a nursing home. I remained within the building because it met all my needs. For that reason I would give it five stars.

The new building Manager and Maintenance Superintendent are inexperienced and have absolutely no people skills. In the short two years they have been here many long term tenants have moved out to avoid the stress of having to deal with their "my way or the highway" attitude. This is sad to see as the apartment itself is in a great location and is in good condition. Under new superintendents it could be a joy to live in the building again.

It not that the apt is bad however be aware that if you require nursing visits they may not be able to come. The superintendent has clearly stated that HE will not allow nursing staff to use the front parking spots, regardless if it is late at night or the ice makes it dangerous to walk from the back parking lot.
Visiting nursing has been told...you will be towed quickly, as I have "friends in the by-law enforcers",
When questioned what will happen to the tenants who might not get a visit??? "That is their issue" and "not my problem".

You might want to think twice about wanting to deal with this very passive/aggressive superintendent.
