He received his medical degree from NYU… Dr. Hochfelder is originally from Briarcliff Manor and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Johns Hopkins University where he graduated with honors and was a starting pitcher and an Academic All-American on their championship baseball team. He received his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine and went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at the prestigious Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York, NY. Following his residency, Dr. Hochfelder completed a one-year fellowship at the world famous Insall, Scott, Kelly Institute focused on primary, complex, and revision hip and knee replacements, as well as joint preservation. As part of his training, Dr. Hochfelder received specialized training in robotic assisted minimally invasive knee replacements, cartilage preserving and restoring procedures, and minimally invasive hip and knee replacements, including the anterior approach for hip replacements. As a result of his specialized training in all aspects of hip and knee surgery, Dr. Hochfelder is able to tailor treatments individually to each patient. Dr. Hochfelder has published articles in several peer-reviewed journals and presented his research and techniques at national and international forums. Dr Hochfelder has great bedside manners. He’s a great communicator and will always have my respect for putting me at ease when it was time to do my surgery. I have no reservations recommending him.

I have been Dr. Hochfelder’s patient for over 4 years and I am extremely pleased with the medical care I receive from him. He is very open and direct during conversations on possible strategies in managing my orthopedic issue. I like his scientific approach to the problem and his honesty in lining up possible scenarios. I also value the fact that I get an appointment with him within a short few days. His new Northwell office in Tarrytown is spacious and very bright.

Super arrogant. Was questioning the age of my other orthopedic surgeon because he’s somewhat older. This doctor needs bed side manners. He doesn’t have enough experience yet to realize this job is to service the patients of their community. Instead he was cold, unfriendly, and left after 10 minutes of doing little to nothing. He basically made me beg for referrals. I wouldn’t recommend this doctor to anyone. As a patient who is scared and confused this doctor has no empathy or concern for the people he sees. Clearly this is a paycheck for him.

Dr. Hochfelder is an excellent surgeon. He is very knowledgeable, skilled & kind. He listened to all my concerns & took the time to answer all my questions. I feel very comfortable with him & trust his recommendations.

I am very pleased with my recent left hip replacement! Dr Hochfelder is amazing, great listener, communicator and surgeon. He is now treating me for right knee issues and look forward to moving forward. I highly recommend!
