For a place on the water and for a decent seafood experience, this place checks the boxes. We ordered the fish dip. I did expect it to have a twist since they say they serve unique seafood. It was like any other fish dip I’ve had.
My husband had the seafood lasagna and it was pretty good… He did say that it was very rich. When I took a bite, I noticed it was very buttery. It reminded me of movie popcorn butter.
I had the lighter portion of the coconut shrimp. The shrimp was very crispy and definitely had a coconut vibe. The Island sauce was very sweet and complimented the shrimp well. The fries were crispy, golden brown and perfectly done.
It was was a little bit disappointing when we were seated. The hostess asked us if we wanted to sit outside and we asked if there was a table with a view. She seated us next to a window, but we couldn’t see out the window because it was clouded plastic. It would’ve been nice to be able to see the water while we were eating dinner.

My husband and I tried this out and despite its name this place is amazing! They had some of the most interesting food we’d ever tried, the service was great and the wildlife you can see is so fun. We will 100% be coming back!

Squid Lips is more of a one-and-done vs tourist trap. The food was pricey, yet forgettable. The sunset river views are spectacular, and the service is abysmal.
Buz, you have a fabulous location, but your molasses paced service is your downfall, and you’re well aware of it, given a handful of recent reviews complaining about it. Maybe you’re content with the first time crowd.
The good: great photo ops for sunsets by the river. The ambiance of the patio is welcoming with a ParrotHead vibe. The coconut shrimp and island dipping sauce are a hit. The Citrus Salmon was the winning entree, along with its blackened flavors.
The bad: for $28.99, the Keys Combo should not come with a fish fillet so dry that it chokes the customer… and yes, we did complain, and it was removed from the bill.
The ugly: how in the world does it take over an hour to bring appetizers, when one of them is a cold smoked fish dip with packaged crackers? Our server, Emma, was also a treat to interact with, as she announced, before our apps had even arrived, that the kitchen would be closing in 8 minutes, so if we wanted entrees, she’d have to put them in ASAP.
And yes, Emma, I know there’s a place on your POS device for tipping, just like there is in 99.9% of restaurants in America.
So Buz, this is the review that your staff wrote… I just typed it in
PS, so Buz replied to my review with this comment: "Your comments directed at both our team and ownership do not accurately reflect how our restaurant operates."
My retort to him, is that we will have to agree to disagree. My comments were 100% representative of how your restaurant and staff operated the evening we came for dinner.
I expect the owner to stand by his staff, but also be cognitive enough to recognize when poor performance should be addressed.

This is an amazing, down to earth restaurant that has an awesome view. There's a pier and a little boardwalk to check out the sunset. Service was speedy, and the food was great (I especially recommend the Cajun Bacon Wrap Scallops). I would definitely return!

Amazing food! Amazing views! You couldn’t ask for more! I used to visit the Bahamas frequently and I can tell you… the conch fritters at Squid Lips are the closest thing to the Bahamian conch fritters that I have ever tasted! And the kids loved feeding the catfish right next to our table.
