For over 40 years, Rakesh Sahni, MD, has served the community with exceptional comprehensive cardiovascular care. Joined by his daughter in 2017, together they provide a full range of services. Both physicians are board certified and specialize in cardiology as well as interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography, vascular medicine, and endovascular interventions. Along with their team, they are delighted to be caring for the heart health of men and women. Dr. Sheila Sahni studied at Georgetown University Medical Center, where she learned to embrace the Jesuit philosophy of "Cura Personalis," which means caring for the whole person. The team at Sahni Heart Center abides by this philosophy and practices medicine using the same principles. They take time to understand the challenges patients and their families can face in obtaining optimal heart health, and invest in each patient’s health. Dr. Rakesh Sahni specialized in a variety of areas, including internal medicine, cardiology, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, and peripheral endovascular interventions. This allows the team to provide the best possible care to men and women with various conditions. With his experience at the forefront, the team provides a comprehensive range of services. At Sahni Heart Center, they offer comprehensive consultations, women’s heart health, preventive cardiology, pre-operative program, blood pressure management, cholesterol/lipid management, vein management program, tobacco cessation, echocardiogram. The practice offers a full range of state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies on-site including ECG-treadmill stress testing, advanced echocardiogram studies (IACEL certified), and vascular and venous reflux ultrasound studies. They can also perform nuclear SPECT (single-photon emission computed tomography) and Myocardial Perfusion Testing (IAC certified) with a new Gamma camera design that allows for imaging in the upright position, enhancing patient comfort. Both specialists perform cardiac catheterizations, stent placement, and peripheral arterial and endovascular interventions. They are affiliated with Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH), JFK Medical Center, HMH – Raritan Bay, HMH – Old Bridge, RWJ University Hospital Rahway, and St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark.
