Not enough caring PSW's. Half of them ignore patient calls. Rooms not cleaned often enough. Bedding needs replaced. Too many patients sleeping and really out of it (so sad) sitting in Nursing station area basically being ignored. Administrative staff lax in returning calls. Food below par. Attitudes need to be changed by the poor PSW'S. If its too tough then get another job you like.

On looking at past reviews of this LTC I see the most important one. There are more people in Administration than Personal Care Workers. I had a family member taken to RVH for care. I watched as he was kindly loaded by paramedics who treated him with the utmost care. I tried to find an administrative employee. Not one available. The answer I got was they are all out(which was true) at Christmas celebration. This is not acceptable.

I work at Roberta's Place for some time now, and I find it a great place to work. I became close to some of the residents and their families. The staff take their pride to look after the residents for any needs they may need

This nursing home seems ill-equipped to deal with the elderly, even though, this is their business, horrible food, not enough fluids, leaving residents with limited mobility sitting on toilets for 20 min. after they ring for assistance. Calls to family when patient is over-medicated and suffering from personality changes. Not able to recognize a heat rash from a reaction to an antibiotic, did not see that resident was suffering from a bladder infection, family pointed it out. Never cleaned under a chair that was in the room, water was out of reach to patient with limited mobility, stated that this was patients home and therefor patient should have choices even if they are not making sound choices, no dietary controls even when there are issues such as diabetes, I am very upset by what I saw at this facility and feel more has to be done for the elderly, my Mother is now dying in hospital, where she is better off, they were going to send her back to this enviornment, and we had to speak up on her behalf and be on top of the situation constantly. I don't know how this situation will be fixed, but if you know someone in care, assume nothing and be ever watchful. To be fair I did meet three individuals who did seem to have a measure of compassion.

I was recently a student on placement at the Roberta Place back in August. I had a wonderful teacher, (Thanks Violetta) and a great experience, I’ll never forget. The staff are amazing, supportive, and well knowledgeable, also the clients are unforgettably wonderful and I miss them all very much.

I have worked at Roberta Place since a little after it opened and am still here almost 10 years later for a reason. The home itself is always clean and beautifully decorated. Everyone tries hard to make it more like a "home" for everyone who lives there. If I had to put a loved in a nursing home, I would definately choose Roberta Place. My work colleuges are all very caring and kind.I look forward to going to work everyday.

I too work at Roberta Place. I find the atmosphere to be very positive. The management team is supportive, and the front line staff give excellent care. Certainly a home that I would place a loved one in.

I have a relative residing in Roberta Place Barrie. His personal space is well appointed. The staff is attentive. The food is excellent. Acitivites could be better.

Absolutely poor care. Too many managers and not enough care workers. Clearly most interested in profit. Resident care is a distant second - meeting only minimum government standards. They do not strive for superior care.
