Opal has been thought to have healing powers in many world cultures, and in the middle ages, it became known as the Opthalmius, or Eye Stone, and was thought to strengthen eyesight and cure certain eye conditions. It is also the birth stone for October, one that has particular significance for Dr. Toor as both his daughter and his grandmother are October born. <p> History of 536A Sixth Street <p> 536A Sixth Street was formerly Pavan's Superior Optical under the care of well known and well respected Doug Pavan. He was highly thought of in the Uptown New West community. Unfortunately Mr. Pavan passed away in August 2012 forcing the family to sell the optical store. To honor his memory, we have kept a plaque right by the front desk and continue his tradition of providing peppermints to our customers. <p> It was purchased in December 2012 by Bullock's Eye Opener Optical who operated the store for 2 years.
