Swim Float Swim has been an amazing experience for our family. Derek has been calm, patient, and encouraging throughout our time at SFS, creating a positive environment where our son feels safe and supported. He is always asking when his next swim lesson will be!
Our questions and concerns have always been welcomed and addressed with patience and understanding. The process at SFS has built a tremendous amount of trust between our son and his instructors while helping him become more comfortable and confident in the water. We’re so grateful to have a place like this in Longmont!

Very grateful to have put our 4.5 year old through SFS. We just spent the past week in Michigan at a lake with family, and everyone commented on how strong of a swimmer he was for his age. Having the confidence that he could safely handle open water completely changed the vacation for me. More importantly, it changed the trip for our kid—he was so happy and independent jumping in the water and swimming to the dock.
I attribute this directly to Derek’s incredible work with him in June. Derek truly met our kid where he was, found the right ways to engage him, and generously worked an extra week to ensure he met his goals. Our son loved working with him so much he became a bit of a celebrity in our house and we are now enjoying our time in group classes with Gabrielle.
I am so appreciative and truly feel this is some of the best money I have ever spent on my child.

Judy and the SFS team are the best baby/toddler swim instructors in the greater Boulder area and it’s not close. We’ve tried them all and while the program is not for the faint of heart, our kids have made incredible progress under their supervision and now are more confident, daring and capable than most kids their age at other pools.

As a prior learn to swim instructor, I knew when I had kids of my own I would send them to swim float swim one day. Almost 10 years ago, I experienced a 12 year old, on swim team, who had been in swim lessons since age 3 actively drowning when her goggles were kicked off by another swimmer. I had to jump in and save her during swim practice. Being a “strong comfortable swimmer” and knowing how to survive in the water are two totally different things. My son (3) has been swimming in the program since 8 weeks old and my daughter is now 7 months in (also started at 8 weeks). While we’ve had ups and downs (my son screamed for several months in his lesson) we’ve since had a breakthrough and he’s actually swimming from edge to edge of the pool at age 3. Some recreation league swim lessons can take 7-10 years before this milestone is reached, let alone water safe. My daughter, at 9 months old can roll from belly to back and float for 60 seconds. For us, it’s been a non-negotiable for our kids to be safe in the water. I was willing to do whatever it takes to feel comfortable and confident around water. Yes, this program isn’t for everyone but anyone who sticks with it will tell you it does work. It’s a huge commitment for us to be there daily or weekly over 3 years but the reward far outweighs the risk. If you’re ready to commit and sick with it, there’s no question that swim float swim will yield the strongest water safety solution for young children. It’s truly life and death for us. I’m so thankful to Judy, Kristin, Sarah and Julie for giving us the gift of water safety!

My granddaughter is taking lessons at swim float swim and everyone there is truly incredible! Our family spends time on the lake over the summer and it is extremely comforting to know that the kids would know what to do if they fell into the water. Both of my daughters went to swim float swim as kids and they love the water and are great swimmers…now it’s time for the next generation. My granddaughter is loving the water and knows how to swim and float at 19 months! Thank you Judy and team! We’re so lucky to have you here teaching our little ones.
