Definitely recommending this resort for anyone that likes the lake life! Beautiful powder sand swimming beach! Great fishing! Great service! Beautiful condos, hotel rooms, and cabins all just feet from the lake. Right next to Beautiful Lake Miltona Golf Course. Wonderful super friendly and helpful staff. Very Family Friendly!!!

As a family, we were looking for a fun place to stay out of town for the weekend. Not your typical hotel. So we booked at this particular lodge/resort. We stayed for 2 nights. Here are a few things I wanted to report.
1.The road to get there is very dark and a little difficult to find for an out of towner.
2. Check in is at 4 PM and checkout is at 9am. Way too late to check in and way to early to check out.
3. Never communicated with owners except for the 2 mins it took to check in. Normally the hosts are friendly and around. Not here
4. It rained the whole time and the steps to get upstairs were incredibly slippery. AC sticks out so far that you need to pay attention so you don't walk into it. They had a random towl hook hanging in the bathroom and when I went to open the shower curtain I wacked my wrist in it and got a nice bruise out of it.
5. They have a no visitor policy, so don't expect to be allowed to have a friend over for the day
6. They provide no shampoo or conditioner or body wash.
7.With 9AM checkout you are expected to clean and vacuum your room. I get cleaning up after yourself, that is common courtesy. But vacuuming...
7. The part that really got me is that we went as a FAMILY. They charged me $75 for having our 8 YEAR OLD SON with us. Charged him as a whole other guest. I think that is highway robbery like no other.
10/10 would NOT recommend staying and will NOT ever be staying here again. Save your money and take the family to Arrowhead Resort in Alexandria. You will be much more pleased!!!

Beautiful lake resort. We had a lodge room . Room was spacious jacuzzi tub in the bathroom was a nice addition. Beach area and boat lifts where nice. Property was well maintained and owners and guests very friendly. Highly recommend!

Didn't stay , only bought something off of marketplace. Very Friendly. Seems like it would be a very nice place to stay. Owner says many large Muskies in his lake that's a plus

Probably one of the cleanest well maintained resorts I've ever been at. Normally guests don't see behind the scenes work that goes into taking care of a place like this, however Our stay overlapped a normal week stay time-frame. They work their butts off for you and it shows. The fish cleaning shack is neat and orderly and doesn't even smell! That's something I've never experienced at any resort!!

We arrived unexpectedly and were met by Bill who accommodated myself and my family with a Loge room. The staff were really friendly (Minnesota nice) We had a fire at the community fire pit to ourselves (free wood) and my son played at the beach for hours. This resort is best visited with a boat in tow and a fishing rod in hand. The rooms are cozy and quiet with jacuzzi bath (that was super nice). The rooms are clean with all the nature you can track in you are asked to do the spot cleaning before you leave. I have no complaints! Thank you, Viking bay and Bill

Our room was full of bugs before we even got there and we had to clean it or else they fine you for it. The owners gave us “noise complaints” for stuff like using the jacuzzi and my cousin falling off the bed. Why put a jacuzzi in if you don’t want people using it? Owners were very rude and constantly in our business. Would not stay again.

We called at 11:30 one night, knowing they were closed, hoping the machine would tell us what time they opened in the morning because it wasn't posted anywhere and we were having boat problems, needed to know how early we could get help. His wife, bless her, answered the phone, answered our question, and we all went to sleep. We went down the next morning, said we were the ones who needed boat help. He said oh, the ones who called at 11:30. Thanks for that. I apologized, said I was expecting to get a message. He said well, we're not the Hilton. Literally everyone with a phone can have a message set up on it. Doesn't take the Hilton, just some brains, and some manners.

Next night, we get a knock on our door, shortly after 11. My nephew answers, with my son next to him (both are teenagers) and he proceeds on a profanity-laced tirade about how loud we were being, all the complaints they got, how we needed to shut the f up, and what a pain in his (expletive deleted) we were. We were laying in bed watching a movie. That's it. Maybe the TV was too loud, maybe our neighbors had sensitive ears, I don't know. What I DO know is that was the most inappropriate reaction someone in that position could have possibly had. Who talks to children like that? Especially when your entire business is providing service to others! At least have the guts to ask for me, the parent, and say it to my face.

Needless to say, we wouldn't set foot in that place again if they paid us, and wouldn't recommend anyone else do it, either.

We stayed in a cabin and used one of the ten boat launches. We had WiFi and there were several bedrooms. The sheets were provided, as well as some soap, etc. There's a beach and a safe swim area, as well as fishing options. Our family comes every year for a family reunion and we all love it.

My family has been making a stay at Viking Bay an annual tradition for a number of years. We’ve stayed in cabins and the lodge, and have taken advantage of most if not all of the resort’s features. It’s clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, and the owners are awesome. We highly recommend it for a Minnesota lakeshore getaway—especially if you like fishing for muskies and huge pan fish and want to stay on a lake that’s got these fish!

Been visiting here on a regular basis for the past 40 years. The owners who took over a few years ago have done an excellent job upgrading both the cabins and resort in general. The swimming beach and boat/dock area are set up very nice with safety in mind as well. The grounds are very well maintained as well as the lodge/hotel. If you want the best vacation ever, visit Viking Bay Resort. Lake Milton also is known for the best walleye fishing in the Alexandria area and their is plenty to do and see in the surrounding communities as well.

The resort was perfect for us to attend the Carlos Creek Winery. All inquiries were answered promptly and graciously. We were welcomed as friends. We did not use all of the features of the resort but what a treat to see the lodge rooms had a whirlpool tub. The rooms and resort were very clean and well cared for. We did relax on the beach with a bonfire and the stay was perfect for the 4 sisters/cousins. We will be back.

Both times my husband and I stayed we had a great time. Can't wait to go again. My husbands family used to have a cabin on the lake so we enjoy going back and are glad we found a place we like. We have stayed in two different cabins now. I like the looks of the remodeled ones.

We absolutely love staying at Viking Bay and we return every year with our children. One of our sons is in college now and is already talking about bringing his own family here when he's older. The owners/managers are nice people who make an effort to make sure their guests have whatever they need to enjoy their stay. They take pride in their property, and while some cabins need some freshening up, they are actively making updates. Bring fishing gear -- you'll find muskies, bass, northern pike, walleye, and lots and lots of large panfish on Lake Miltona. One request for the owners -- put in more fire pits. Despite coming to this resort for multiple years and staying for several days at a time, only once have we been able to use a fire pit at night because some guests are not inclined to share the pits -- especially those that are located in front of their cabins.

Loved my stay at this well managed, clean, homely and affordable place. Right on the lake with an all year round fantastic view, in a quiet but absolutely safe place. The staff was more than friendly and they are not your typical 'looking for tips' people. All you'll ever hear from them is hope to see you again.

I'd recommend this place for couple, family with kids, absolutely anybody.
