Hello everyone…. I hate to be writing this post but I think it is only right that I inform everyone of my expierence at parkland kennels. Yesterday I went pick up my dog as she stayed from August 1st- to the 5th… everything seemed okay, took a bit to find my girl, but we located her, grabbed her things and took her to the front desk. I didn’t realize i didn’t have a leash because I just flew in that day from Halifax so I asked *very kindly!!* if I could borrow the one he had on her, and that I would bring it back in 10 minutes with a bunch of donations for their kennel. As soon as I said this things escalated with him, he began to call me derogatory things that were unwarranted … at this point a friend I was with came over… we asked if we could just use the leash to lead the dog into the car and than we would give it back, but he refused to let go and was pulling the leash with an upwards force while my dog was still on it… things kept going up from there, he was insistent that I was trying to “steal his leash” there was nothing I could do, because each time I tried to get my dog off the leash, it was next to impossible with the force he was using, at that point he was strangling my dog from the leash and we didn’t know what to do… there was no cutting a deal with him, there was no de escalating this situation, I asked him multiple times to stop and told him I had 2 young children in the truck… I stood there yelling “ please another staff member come help us we have a very aggressive staff and he won’t let go of my dog”… but no one came to help… he says to me “no one’s coming to help you d*mb a**… after this my dogs neck slipped out of her collar because he was holding it with such an upwards force. She than broke free… he is yelling for me to grab my dog , still calling me names and I ran to the front gates to get someone’s help… my dog ran to follow me and when she reached the gates and approached me, Robert did as well, he was grabbing on to my dog by her skin and you could tell it was hurting her , he was holding her up….i told him to get his hand off my dog.. I tried to take her back and he wouldn’t let go of her skin! He claims he was “keeping her under control” but she was totally fine, just scared of what was happening… I tried to unwrap his fingers from her neck… This is when he said “don’t touch me” and I kept saying just let go of my dog! I want to add as well she was so scared and had no idea what was going on but she didn’t attack, or get out of control, she just took it… at this point we’re all against this fence, my friend came in after he saw that this person wouldn’t let go of my dogs skin and Robert began to get even more so aggressive with me and her… This wasn’t even about the leash anymore… this is when Robert swung at my friend , than swung at me and hit me on the right side of my head. When this happened the friend I was with had put him into a choke hold to stop him from attacking me, and himself as Robert wasn’t stopping, he was swinging , scratching his neck and attempted to bite him… another lady who was a witness to his aggressive behaviour ran out and tried to break it up told me she’s been trying to ring for the staff. After I got out of the middle of it I went inside and tried to seek a staffs help as I felt dizzy from being hit… That’s when he chased me inside and told me he was “removing me from the property”… the bruises on my arms show the excessive forced used here and as I cried to 3 other ladies to please get him off of me as I was trying to tell them he just punched me in the face! I was on the phone with 911 and they heard it all, at this point I left to my vehicle… The only reason I ran in there was to seek HELP… the lady who was picking up her dog was the one who dialed 911 and let me use her phone… at the end of this all. The police did nothing. Robert, the man who assaulted me, my friend and my dog, had claimed I hit him several times in the head, and that he had scratches on my his back. These came from the fence he had us all up against as he got out of control and aggressive. He tried to claim this was a 2 against one fight and that my dog was out of control which was the furthest thing from the truth. All we wanted was to get my dog in the truck and he refused to give her to me because of a leash… My big concern here is if he can hit a woman, and think it’s justified over a 2 dollar leash and do what he did to my dog & my friend, what is happpening to those dogs when we drop them off there to be taken care of? And not only that, but that the police defended this man and took his word over myself, my friend, and a witness who saw his aggressive behaviour, refuses to look further into camera footage or evidence, or to hear about the 3 women I begged and pleaded to as this man continue to lay his hands on me… as well as take into account that Robert the man who assaulted me, is much bigger than I am, I am 5’4 and even the nurse at the hospital expressed that with how tiny I am it doesn’t make sense to what he claims… I had no chance of defending myself that day… it was a very defeating feeling. The cops say I was the aggressor but I was running away from this man, and screaming for someone to help as he was strangling my dog… I ran inside begging and pleading for someone’s help. One of the staff who spoke with us was appalled by his behaviour and that this was all over a leash. She actually went and grabbed us a leash to take with us because she felt terrible with what happened…. The cops let this man walk away knowing he can get away with assaulting people and animals with 0 repercussion. I will not let this go, I will continue to fight for the justice that is deserved here. Beware of Parkland kennels and the man named “Robert” who manages this place. I am absolutely disgusted and shocked with my experience here…. I’m also coming to find out me and my fur baby aren’t the only ones who have been mistreated by this company… So sickening places like these are aloud to stay in business.

Don't leave your dogs here. Their website is nice but there's no pics of the actual facility for a reason. It's a run-down dump. I will always live with the guilt of not checking the facility out before I left my dogs there. They are both old, both small, both on meds. My dogs were only at this kennel 4 days and in that time they both lost weight, I don't think they were fed, I don't think they were given their meds either. My smallest guy, only 6.5lbs lost 2lbs in 4 days. He was so hungry he actually ate a small rock that he threw up. He caught a digestive infection while in there as well. He's been sick since I picked him up a week ago, been in vets care, he's too old and his little body won't recover. When I picked them up they were both lethargic and seemed weak. They were stuffed in a small cage and had probably spent the whole time in there. Honestly, this place is just horrible!

I have been taking my dogs to the Parkland kennels for at least 10 years now. the dogs love it and the groomer is awesome with the dogs. Tara has more than exceptional experience with my dogs and truly cares about their well-being. We have left our dogs at the kennel when we are on vacay and no problems at all with management, care or staff. Staff also are exceptional and experienced. A great place to take your animals

Success Assured! Well at least that is how I felt about it.
Due to the excellent instruction everyone was assured success with the exercises. The homework was well planned out. Excellent course. Our dog is much more focused and is showing a greater respect to Frankie and I. Both Frankie and I had to synchronize our “individual idea” of how to train a dog from puppyhood. Diesel has so much energy and excitement, we knew we had to harness it. If we hadn’t met a former graduate from Parkland Kennels at PetSmart (who told us Parkland was the best), I don’t know if Diesel would have learned (us too) all he did. Thank you for the individual focus, understanding and patience. I can now see Diesel’s future as a well-trained adult. I also had no idea how fun this would be!! We’ll probably be back for Level 2 and/or agility.

It's a bit of a drive for me now, but I would't consider taking him anywhere else at this point. I have never had to board him I have only had the grooming services, but if I had to leave him to be boarded I would.
