That realization motivated me to become an advanced practice registered nurse in primary care and nephrology. When a care plan I’ve created with a patient fits well into their daily life, I’m ecstatic. It’s a collaborative process. I’m not here to give them a rigid, “you have to do x, y, z.” I’m here for the patient, to put them at ease. My job is to use my education and resources to provide information, support, and answers so patients can make informed decisions about their health.
