I know how important it is to feel heard, understood and educated on specific diagnoses and procedures. That is why I always listen to patients and their families first. Using that insight, I can better determine the right next steps clinically and share that information using clear language. Education is empowering. When a patient has a better grasp of the nature of their ailment or symptoms, it might not feel as scary or foreign to them. It can be a relief for both the patient and myself!
