I invite my patients to share with me their concerns and their understanding of their health. I really want to know what they are hoping to achieve when they come for medical care and want to ensure that they receive evidence-based medical care that is aligned with their needs. I will always respect my patients' right to privacy, but I encourage my patients to include their loved ones in their medical care. Family and friends can be a great source of support during medical appointments and hospitalizations and when managing health care at home.
