America’s Home Place was a fantastic choice for our build. They gave us the flexibility to customize our floor plan to fit our family's exact needs without breaking the bank. The build quality, materials, and superintendent oversight were all excellent throughout construction. We are thrilled with the final result and would definitely build with them again!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience so others can make an informed decision.

My wife and I were genuinely excited to build our home and invested several months working through the design process. Like any custom home build, there were a few issues along the way. While some of those concerns were frustrating, we were willing to work through them because we truly wanted the project to move forward. We understood that no build is perfect, and we believed reasonable solutions could be found. Unfortunately, the way one particular issue was handled ultimately caused us to lose confidence in the entire process.

The issue involved a request to upgrade the home's electrical panel from Square D to Leviton. As a licensed electrical contractor, I know this is a common manufacturer change and not an unusual or experimental request. However, every time I asked about it, I received different explanations, including that additional research was needed because the panel was unfamiliar.

I fully expected to pay more for the upgrade due to the builder's business model. I understand that upgrades include labor, overhead, coordination, and markup. In fact, I offered to pay an additional $2,000 just to keep the project moving. Instead, I was quoted approximately $6,000 without receiving an itemized breakdown or a clear explanation of how that figure was determined.

What concerned me most wasn't the price—it was the lack of transparency. I asked if I could speak directly with the electrician who would be performing the installation so we could discuss the requirements and better understand the costs. That request was denied. As someone who works in the electrical industry, it was difficult to understand why I couldn't have a conversation with the trade responsible for the work, especially when I was being told the equipment required extensive research.

I wasn't looking for special treatment or trying to avoid paying for an upgrade. I simply wanted honest communication, a reasonable explanation of the costs, and the opportunity to discuss the project with the people responsible for performing the work.

After making the difficult decision to terminate the build, I reached out to customer service to explain my concerns and hopefully start a conversation. Unfortunately, I never received a response.

Walking away from a home we had been planning for months was not an easy decision. It cost us $1,500 and several months of time. This wasn't a decision made over a single disagreement or because of the price of an upgrade. It was the culmination of multiple concerns, with the handling of the electrical panel request becoming the deciding factor that caused us to lose confidence in the process.

I hope this feedback encourages better communication and greater transparency for future customers. Building a home is one of the biggest investments most people will ever make, and customers deserve clear answers, honest pricing, and responsive customer service.

America's Home Place just completed a new home for me, and it was an incredibly positive experience from start to finish. The project management provided during the building process was excellent. My career prior to retiring was in project management so my expectations were high. AHP exceeded my expectations. They took care of everything with meticulous attention to detail, updated me weekly, and responded to any questions and issues on a near immediate basis. The AHP team is superb, outstanding at what they do from sales to completion, and delivered a fantastic customer experience. I highly recommend AHP.
