Our family recently toured several senior living facilities along the Oregon coast in search of memory care for my grandmother. At Monarch Gardens, Sarah guided us through the visit and highlighted the unique aspects of the facility. She was attentive and thorough, tailoring the tour to meet my grandma's specific needs. The environment at Monarch was beautiful and spacious, and they offered specialized memory care services. We toured during lunchtime and were even invited to join, which added a nice touch to the experience.
The care manager made a positive impression with her evident passion for her role, which was reflected in the joyful demeanor of the residents.

We received a warm welcome and valuable information throughout our visit, making us feel like we're heading in the right direction. Overall, it was a promising experience at Monarch Gardens. Keep up the good work!

This place has gotten worse and worse. It will improve but only after having Adult Protective services check in and then it goes back to terrible. My mom is consistently in her chair just sitting. The food one evening was gravy over rice with canned cranberry. Nothing else. Last week my mom still had a pill in her mouth she did not want to chew as it tasted bad. No one knew she had not swallowed her medication. She is dressed repeatedly in clothing she does not own and her clothing goes missing consistently. Her walker up and disappeared. A speaker that was on her bed is missing. She had a broken bed for over three months with no one to contact Hospice for a new bed. I did not know this until three months had passed. The place has improved a little but it still smells like urine and vomit. There is a menu that stated her dinner would be Mediterranean chicken salad, instead it was reheated burritos. There are now more activities after I sent multiple complaints to Adult protective services. Luz tries very hard but she told me we would have to pay to rent her bed, which was not true. My mom was acting very strangely and I had her get a UA they took it and then waited too long for the lab to take it, so they sent it to a different lab without letting the doctor know. I had to take her to the ER to get a UA as she was suffering with internal pain at this point. I go weekly to take my mom out of there as it is impossible to breathe the smell is so overwhelming. Lately the food has improved and the smell is better but not great. The billing office has lied directly to the Department of Human Services as they have never called me back since last August. I have tried repeatedly to contact them. I have called, emailed, even texted with zero response and the billing office told our case worker that they have tried to contact me. Just lies and irresponsible lack of action. It is better but they have a long way to go to treat the people who need their care with dignity. I am personally fed up with this place and wish everyone could put there family members someplace better.

It is rare to find a team of people as dedicated to the care of residents, and I feel so fortunate to have found them all. It’s been a pleasure working here and we continue to be dedicated to giving the highest possible quality of life to our residents.

The residents get their care but the employees are mistreated constantly. Do not think you'll get your sign on bonus either, they go out of their way to deny it. From the photos you can also tell they have a generic response in an effort to make people feel safe and encourage people to work there. Administrators here are appalling and nearly impossible to reach unless they want to talk to you. The care partners work very hard to provide enough attention, but the bosses and supervisor make it intolerable.

I LOVE WORKING HERE!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️ Hi- I’ve been working here for a little over a year 4 and absolutely love being here with all these wonderful people!! Our residents become as close to family as anyone can get. Hearing stories about their lives, their memories is a true honor to share with them. Sometimes it’s a small look of recognition, a twinkle in their eyes, a smile, a quick thank you from a resident that can make your whole day!!!!! We celebrate their birthdays together, assisting in their daily activities, we laugh with them, play games, go for walks and even sometimes cry together…just like families do. These things may not seem like much but most times

I have a mother with dementia and cancer. She needs professional care. I went and toured 3 different places.. Before I walked in the Door I was greeted by an employee who said hello and asked how I was doing. Every employee did the same. Sarah Dodson was very caring. She made sure that I saw everything and that every question I had was answered.. Stephanie the activities director asked all kinds of questions about things my mom liked to do. They made me feel like this is the place for mom. Sarah will do all she can to help you and your loved one in need.

Where can I start…
It’s been hard with what has been happening with my dad. And I’m very happy to say Sarah Dodson relieved so much stress. She has been sharp and quick to boarding. She has been covering every detail. Understanding in every way. She is on point. I really appreciate all of her help and care. I’m truly grateful.

My mom lives at the beautiful Ocean View Memory Care facility in Brookings, OR. This place is run by people that are as lovely as they come. What a great crew, kind and upbeat, and very conscious of those in their care and their needs. The dining is 5 star and the food beautifilly presented. This is a top-o-the-line care facility. What a lovely thing to know my mom is safe, secure, and well-cared for in this happy, super clean, good smelling, and beautiful environment!

WARNING! Do not send your loved one to this facility. We just returned from spending 3 days there with a dear friend. We were beyond appalled! Urine smells waif through the halls and escape through the open doors of the "private" rooms. Neither green salads nor fresh vegetables are included in the meal planning. Instead, stool softeners are handed out as part of the daily med dispensing ritual. The small Ocean Park van is covered with cobwebs, and has been broken for some time, depriving residents of outings into the beautiful world beyond their prison walls. On the second day of our visit we spent 8 hours in the facility. The experience offered a gut-wrenching glimpse into what a normal weekday looks like for residents (something you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy). We observed no activities taking place - though advertised on the "activity board". Residents spent their day slumped in chairs or walking around aimlessly, by themselves, quite comatose. There was no social interaction between residents or residents and staff. When we inquired about getting a game to play or for coloring/art supplies we were told that only the Activity Director could access those items. Unfortunately, the Activity Director never materialized. In the meantime, the Executive Director was uninviting, cold and clearly threatened by our presence. At the end of the horrific 3-day experience I can assure you with certainty that Ocean Park Memory Care residents are being warehoused in a dismal and despicable environment. If you love someone you don't want them to end up there. Even though Brookings is in a great location, these residents miss out on all the charm because they're locked up in what our dear friend described as an "extended outhouse". It's tragic that anyone has to spend their last chapter in a sad place like this.

My mother has been dealing with Alzheimer's for a very long time now, and my father has been trying to take care of her at home. He was struggling and that's when I began looking online for a place for her that she would be comfortable in. All of the places we were looking at in state, I am not from Oregon, has horrible ratings. I am so happy and relieved that we found Ocean Park. These ratings were great, and now I know the reason why.
