Dr. Briones grew up in Arizona. She completed her undergraduate work at Princeton University, earning a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and a certificate in Spanish. After spending a year teaching high school with Americorps in Los Angeles, she attended medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia where she graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Dr. Briones then completed residency training in Internal Medicine at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina. She worked on faculty at MUSC and UNC Chapel Hill before moving to Charlotte. In Charlotte, she has worked for Atrium and Tryon Medical Partners before joining MUSC.
