I’ve been a loyal Nordstrom Rack customer for years, but my recent experience at the Clairemont location means I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on.

My husband and I went in to exchange an unworn birthday gift with its original receipt and box, linked right to our account. Unfortunately, the associate, Andrea, kept looking at us as if we had stolen the items, making us feel completely humiliated.

This is the second time I have had this kind of unwelcoming experience at this specific location. If you choose to shop here, just be entirely certain you won't need to make a return or exchange.

I will gladly drive a few extra miles to the La Jolla location where I have always been treated with respect.

I have shopped here a few times and always seemed to be disappointed in finding clothes for me that were reasonably priced. Today, after looking for a while, I finally found a scarf. There was not another like it so I took the same brand and different color scary to the cashier as the one that wanted didn't have a price tag. The cashier took the scarf and told me that it was suppose to have two scarfs ( a double pack) but that one was missing. I told her that was fine as I only wanted the one that would go with my outfit. She told me that she could not sell it to me bc because it didn't have the other scarf. She was not helpful and did not explain or offer any options. I said " so you won't sell me an item at regular price, even though I understand I'm only getting half of the item, and that it is no fault of my own? " And she said " that's right". When I asked the reasoning behind that she just said " I can't sell it". Bad experience and although she was not rude, she was not helpful.

The store is well-organized and easy to browse. Judging by the reviews, customer service doesn't seem to be very good, but personally, I found it to be average so far.

I've been shopping at Nordstrom Rack for years and have never returned or exchanged anything before. This was the first time I had a problem, and the way it was handled was extremely disappointing.

I purchased a pair of boots for around $100. After wearing them, they caused severe pain in my foot to the point where I could barely continue walking. I called customer service and was told to contact the store directly.

When I went to this Clairmont location, the employee I spoke with was rude, dismissive, and clearly uninterested in helping. He didn't even look at the boots, ask any questions, or try to understand the issue. He simply acted like he didn't care and offered no solution.

I called again afterward and was left on hold for nearly 15 minutes, only to be told there was nothing they could do. No effort was made to help a long-time customer who had a legitimate issue with a product.

I wasn't asking for special treatment. I simply expected basic customer service and some willingness to help. Unfortunately, this location provided neither. Very disappointing experience.

I have never been more humiliated and appalled in my life. This Nordstrom Rack unfortunately takes the crown for the worst retail experience I've ever endured. I was minding my own business, just browsing the clothing racks, when out of nowhere a security guard approached me and accused me of shoplifting. I was absolutely shocked. I had nothing in my hands, no items hidden, and had done absolutely nothing suspicious.

To make matters worse, they didn’t just ask me a few questions or double-check with the staff—no, they practically treated me like a criminal in front of other customers. It was mortifying. They eventually realized their mistake and offered a half-hearted apology, but the damage was done. I left the store feeling completely humiliated and will never be returning. If you value being treated with basic human respect, avoid this location at all costs.
