We had the pleasure of celebrating one our dearest friend’s birthday at The Blackwall Barn & Lodge and when I tell you that we had the best server in the restaurant “Naya”!!! Naya was extremely attentive to our needs, professional, courteous and her smile was the light that shined on us!!! Naya created an atmosphere so pleasant and pleasing until we can’t wait to come back to request her! Thank you Naya for an amazing experience!!!! We also want to thank the Chefs as well, because the food was outstanding from the starters to the entrees. It was a beautiful evening!

This was our first time eating here. I had a New York strip steak and my wife had a mushroom and arugula pizza. We shared a house salad. The steak was very good, but a bit oily and plain. Perhaps they left the seasonings up to the customer. My wife said the pizza was excellent. We enjoyed a slice of Decadent Chocolate cake for dessert to celebrate my birthday. Overall, the food was fresh and the portions were very large. We both could eat only half of our entrees.
The service was excellent. Our server offered tastings of wine and beer to help us make our choice. He was super friendly and answered all of our questions about the menu. We would definitely come back again for another meal.

The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was beautiful, but the service was 5-star. The French onion soup is the best I've ever had, so rich and perfect. The table side flambe crab dip was good, but not really amazing or a large portion for $24. I expected a "show", and I got a food runner who sloshed around the alcohol above eye level until the tiny flame went out. My lamb special was freaking amazing. Perfect! Drinks were ok, sounded better than they tasted. There was a private dining room with a glass wine wall for about 12 people that looks great for a private party. Bathrooms were pristine. The apple bread pudding was delicious. Overall, fantastic. We will definitely return.

At Blackwall Barn & Lodge in Columbia, the service was exceptional from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. Every staff member we interacted with was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely focused on making sure we had a great experience.

I ordered the New York strip with roasted potatoes and onions, and it was cooked perfectly. The flavors were spot on, and the quality of the ingredients really stood out. We also had the braised short rib over mashed potatoes and vegetables, which was incredibly tender, rich, and comforting. My daughter ordered the mac and cheese made with homemade pasta, and it was absolutely delicious with a generous portion size.

We also shared the duck fat fries, which were perfectly crispy, flavorful, and impossible to stop eating. To complete the meal, we enjoyed a bottle of Malbec that paired beautifully with both the steak and the short rib.

What impressed me most was learning that most of their ingredients are sourced locally from Maryland and Virginia. That commitment to local sourcing truly shines through in the freshness and quality of every dish.

If you’re looking for outstanding service, thoughtfully prepared food, and a restaurant that values fresh, local ingredients, Blackwall Barn & Lodge is absolutely worth a visit. I’ll definitely be back.

We chose to sit outside because it was a lovely day and we really enjoyed our visit at the Blackwall barn. Our server was Hali and she did an excellent job.
We started with biscuits which were cooked perfectly and had chive butter to accompany them. Our entrées came out in a reasonable amount of time and were very generous portions. Everyone enjoyed the food tremendously and look forward to returning.
