John Montano helped us when we asked him to fix interior walls and trim damaged by storm drainage. He repaired the damage by re-mudding and texturing large portions of our walls. He then repainted the damaged area and it was like new again. Amazing. Outstanding quality and workmanship. We were very happy and satisfied with the job. John has a good work ethic and is an asset to his profession. Highly recommended.

Fast, efficient, skilled, respectful and clean up aft themselves! I had 2 large holes left by plumbers and some saggy wall from water damage. John worked around my schedule, worked fast (total of only 4hours to make it paint ready), skilled with the drywall and mud. They were respectful to me and my property and left with a mess. We had an electrician and AC contractor open up two walls and hide the AC conduits inside. John did a great job repairing and painting. He knew what he was doing. He actually went above and beyond by fixing a dangling power line to ceiling fan at no charge!

John Montano and Cliff did extensive work in my son’s garage. The work was impeccable and flawless. These two men are gifted, knowledgeable, talented and very professional. We are so grateful for the fine work they did for us. We will definitely call them again. They did drywall, painting, remove an old dryer vent and patched up the hole, replace two old air vents and the new ones look fabulous. Replace boards, fill holes in the walls, replace baseboards, rewire tv cable, lots of cosmetic work that made everything tie in. Thank you John and Cliff my son and I appreciate your talent. Had my AC replaced and needed drywall replaced. John responded quickly and set an appt to come give me a quote. He was running late but actually text to let me know he was on his way which I really appreciated. I decided to move forward with his quote and he was available to start in 2 days. He arrived on time with his helper. They fixed 3 areas better than new! I would recommend him to anyone looking for drywall and painting. His pricing was fair, he was honest and did fantastic work.

We worked with ABC Handyman, John, on a bunch of projects around the house, and he did an awesome job from start to finish. He tore down an old closet and removed a door to give us a flat back wall for a new built-in, framed and drywalled around a lava rock wall so we could install an AC unit, and covered up a CMU wall to give it a clean, smooth look. He also helped with a few smaller fixes along the way without any fuss.
He showed up on time, worked quickly, and paid close attention to the details. The work areas were kept tidy every day, and he explained what he was doing so we always knew the plan. What stood out most was how versatile and skilled he is—he handled framing, drywall, and finish work all in one go.
He’s easy to talk to, gives honest feedback, and genuinely wants the end result to look good. We’re really happy with how everything turned out and will definitely be calling him again for future projects. Highly recommend.

My partner and I recently purchased our first condo in town and we wanted to update our old popcorn ceilings to a beautiful skim coat. Our new home is roughly 500 sqft and we have a first tight, 2-week moving window. We're so grateful to find Johnny, with ABC Handyman Hawaiʻi. He was punctual, meticulous, and we are so HAPPY with the results!
I shopped around and received quotes from 6 different handyman, paint, and ceiling restoration companies and Johnny responded to me super quickly and ran through the end-to-end process of work to be done. My partner and I were sold by how detail-oriented he was in explaining the materials he would use and all the safety considerations we should pay attention to as new homeowners. Our goal was to get a high quality, skim coat ceiling that matched our walls and Johnny delivered.
He ended up skimming 16 gallons of drywall compound onto our scraped off ceiling, he did the priming and painting, plus he did all the repairs on the wall and helped us reinstall lights and other ceiling fixtures. He also spotted that our kitchen cabinets were barely hanging on by a loose screw and made time in his schedule to secure those for us as well!
We really enjoyed working with ABC Handman, we wanted the best and we got the best. Mahalo Johnny!

We were recently surprised by a water leak in our bathroom ceiling at our Waikiki condo. Our building manager came with a plumber to assess the problem. John from ABC Handyman Hawaii was highly recommended to handle the repair of our textured ceiling and extensive wall damage. John was very quick to respond and come by to assess the situation. I felt very comfortable with John's demeanor and professionalism.....Once he started the repairs he explained the entire process and I saw how multi-faceted everything was.......he dealt with concrete, drywall, and plaster refurbishing as well as the textured ceiling.
John works quickly and is very mindful of dust containment and cleanliness. Paint matching was excellent and when John painted the seam where the wall and ceiling meet, it was better than it originally was. I can truly highly recommend John ABC Handyman Hawaii.

John did a fantastic job repainting all of the interior walls at our home. Our living room and staircase have pretty high ceilings, so it was a daunting task which John and his team did with great attention to detail. Our walls look amazing! We appreciate him talking with us beforehand about different brands of paint and sharing his honest opinion. John also helped us install plexiglass along the staircase railing for safety reasons - it looks great (you can't really tell there is a barrier unless you are very close) and has given us peace of mind. He was always helpful and easy to talk with. We recommend John for all of your painting and handyman needs!

First of all, John thank you so much for your service. I strongly recommend him. I asked him to remove my townhouse’s metal window security bars. He answered the phone until 9pm at night and very friendly. I sent the photos via email and he replied promptly. I got an estimate next day it was reasonable. He came to do a job next two days and showed up on time. He had a helper with him and both were very efficient and professional. I definitely ask him again if I need a handyman.

Managing an older building in Waikiki is full of surprises. In a recent leak investigation I contacted John for help with opening up the walls and he was there within minutes. His attention to detail and experience saved the association thousands of $$$ since he knew exactly how to handle the situation. He didn’t have to remove the entire kitchen cabinets like most other contractors do, he worked around it and when the job was done he put everything back to original condition. John is also certified Water Restoration Technician so he brought all of his equipment and tools to remediate the water damage and had HEPA filter machines so when the job was done the unit had no construction dust.
John had completed several other projects for me and I have been impressed every time. He is very creative, knowledgeable, motivated and his attention to detail is outstanding.

John did a phenomenal job on our condos. We initially hired him to set the wallpaper in our bathroom and soon after realized he had an attention to detail unlike other carpenters on O’ahu. He’s done plenty more work for us since then including drywall installation, mudding and painting, mounting cabinet fixtures, etc. He’s skilled in locating and repairing flaws and ultimately our places turned out incredible. He always showed up on time and got right to work with a good attitude and a friendly demeanor. His detailed and thoughtful care for his work on our projects has proven his services invaluable to us. John did a great job in replacing the drywall behind the toilet at a condo in Kukui Plaza. The wax seal deteriorated over the years and started leaking. The drywall was damaged and needed replacement. John gave me a fair quote for the repair, and he was very accommodating with my constant changes for the scope of the job. He was extremely careful and took pride in his work. He used gypsum drywall, it’s better than the regular drywall. He cut the gypsum board to precisely fit around the rear discharge drain pipe and the water inline pipe, it was like a jigsaw PCS to form a nice one-piece look. He also used a metal support plate, better than the wood type support, to join the pieces together to form a strong joint and to code. The joints on the gypsum board and drywall is seamless, you cannot even tell where they connected. He used oil-based primer to seal the gypsum board and better adhesion for the finish paint. I was very pleased with the work and I highly recommend John for any drywall repairs and any indoor repairs. He normally doesn’t do screen window repairs, but he fixed it as a favor. He also fixed two doors that wouldn’t close right, it was binding before it fully closes. His price quote is better than fair and reasonable. His years of experience showed in the outstanding quality of his work.
