Just had my move with Local Motion and I'm grateful to have two wonderful movers (Otgo and his coworker) who were very accommodating and worked with me on furniture placement in my new place (I hemmed myself in inadvertently).

Pretty comparable moving pricing for the area too. Very pleased to have the heavy lifting part of my move over & done with.

Overall, I'd book Local Motion again. The booking and overall communications process were both seamless, and Lydia from their office was helpful in assessing my moving needs.

Fast, efficient, friendly, professional. They came a little early and called to ask if that was ok, which we appreciated.

They also asked if we wanted anything wrapped and said it would take more time, which was very considerate of our budget. We couldn't be happier with their services. Definitely hiring them again!

We had an excellent experience with Local Motion (Valerii). Hired him to build two desks and a convertible daybed we bought for a new townhouse so we could focus on unpacking and other tasks. Communication was great, confirming receipt of product links and time of arrival. Even after he blew a tire and had to hire a tow truck, he focused on our appointment, texting to let us know and confirming he could still come the same afternoon. When he arrived, he was efficient, polite, and did a first rate job, building the furniture and putting all the trash into the boxes. If you need something done well on short notice, we recommend Local Motion.

I want to start off with the good: Local Motion were very responsive, upfront with pricing, and provided what I believed to be a clear understanding of what to expect. My wife and I moved from a 1 bedroom apartment (~930sq ft) to a 1 bedroom condo (~1000sq ft). The distance between the locations was about 30 mins at most (DC to Alexandria). The movers arrived right on time, were very professional, and were very careful with our things.

Now the bad: they were exceptionally slow. I have moved twice before with the exact same amount of total items/furniture using different movers and it took them about 1.5hrs total for the entire move. I hired Local Motion for 2 hours and it ended up taking them 8 hours. While there was a small delay of 30 minutes due to no fault of their own, their sluggishness was unacceptable.

They took every single item one at a time. They had 2 movers with 2 big wooden furniture 4 wheeled moving dollies, but they only ever used one. I don't know why they couldn't go twice as fast taking 2 boxes at a time. Then to top it all off, we all left my old apartment at 1:28pm, they said they would take a lunch and meet us back at my new place in an hour. No problem. They showed up an hour later and took another ~2.5 hours to unload everything.

When it came time to pay they said "oh we actually didn't take a lunch" unfortunately I wasn't there when we paid them, but they absolutely took an hour lunch and took advantage of my wife when she paid.

I would not recommend using them as they are exceptionally slow, and will do everything they can to make sure your reasonable quote is not what you pay

Local Motion Movers helped us move out of our 2-bedroom apartment to a 3-story townhouse this past weekend. We underestimated the amount of our belongings and they added a third person an hour in to help in order to move things along much more quickly. They were efficient and VERY careful with our belongings. Not one item damaged, not one wall scuffed. They don’t charge extra for any shrink wrap used and even though it was raining that day, none of our furniture or even any of our boxes got wet. Their pricing is very fair and transparent - no hidden or unexpected fees at checkout. Lastly, they are just a company of genuine, hard-working people. Highly recommend Val and his team!

Unfortunately, I had 2 no-shows for a job today that was scheduled in advance and luckily I found this amazing company who were able to come within a couple hours the same day I reached out to them.

These 2 gentleman came earlier than the confirmed time and got the job so quick and professional. They did an amazing job and I’m extremely blessed and thankful for them.

I will definitely hire these guys again for things I need help with in the near future. Everything happens for a reason and I am thankful things worked out better than I expected.

I hired movers from Local Motion to help with my move from Alexandria to DC recently. Local Motion provided 2 guys and a truck who arrived at my Alexandria apartment complex on a Saturday afternoon. They proceeded to efficiently move boxes and wrap larger pieces of furniture, such as a dresser, a table, and desks, with blankets and that movers saran wrap, and then carry those large items down 2 flights of stairs and into the truck.

About 45 minutes later, the truck pulled into the parking lot for the DC apartment building. The guys then unloaded my stuff carefully, adeptly squeezed into a small elevator and up to my new apartment. They worked quickly and professionally and finished moving and unloading in just over 2 hours. I also had a pleasant experience coordinating my move with Lydia... I would hire them again for a move in the DMV.

Seriously, they emptied a chock full 2 bed loft in the same time Nova Express Movers took to empty my previous single bedroom flat. I found Do The Local Motion With Me movers via Yelp. They had good reviews so I decided to go with this company. I had a great experience and I highly recommend them! They were quick and professional. I was in contact with Lydia the entire way from setting up my move appointment to a couple days after when she sent me my requested receipt since I paid in cash. She was quick and responsive and upfront about all the fees and moving rates.

There was a $250 moving fee (covers a truck, 2 movers, protective wrapping on furniture, etc, and each hour is $110 with 2 hours minimum required. There are other fees but my move didn't fall under those. I had to put a deposit down to reserve my appointment date and it was subtracted from my total moving cost. My move took 3 hours. The movers were professional, quick and efficient. I would definitely choose to go with this moving company in the future!

I recently used Do the Local Motion with Me Movers to move a 2bd apartment into another apartment across town. I was very impressed with how they handled my move. The scheduler was incredibly responsive and the moving rates were competitive and lower than many other local companies. On the day of my move, the move team showed up 10 mins early ready to work and took amazing care with my furniture. Everything was padded, wrapped, and arrived without damage or debris on the other end. They were very efficient while being careful and didn’t waste any of my time to run up rates. I was charged exactly for the actual move time. Would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to anyone in the area!
