My experience as a tenant for six years started off okay, but ended unprofessionally. For six years, my rent and utilities were always paid on time, and I even maintained the carpets myself throughout my tenancy.
The issues arose upon move out. During my first year, my roof leaked. While maintenance fixed the leak, they never repaired the damaged ceiling. Upon moving out, management attempted to charge me for that exact ceiling damage. Charges I am disputing with photographic evidence and copies of the original work orders.
Additionally, I provided proper written notice a month in advance of my departure. Despite this, I was improperly billed for that final month's rent along with subsequent late fees. They just didn’t want to give me the deposit back. Throughout my six years there (longer than any other tenant in the building) my rent increased annually without any unit updates or improvements, while neighboring tenants hit rent caps. I also email them a letter to compromise the rent. They told me no.
Between the disputed move out charges, double billing for my final notice period, and mandatory renewal application fees, management’s practices feel predatory. I have preserved all documentation, work orders, and photos to pursue this matter in small claims court. Prospective tenants should look elsewhere. 0/10 don’t recommend. They don’t appreciate their tenants who pay rent on time. It’s fees for everything.

Kunkel Wittenauer has managed several of my properties for years. They are all great. My most recent interaction was with Mari, the Administrative Assistant. She is always my go to on any issue. When I call for a concern or question she always cheerfully takes on the matter and sees it to completion. I really appreciate her excellent customer service!

Marie Joson at KWG has made the move-in process SO smooth for myself and my best friend. My only renter experience prior to this was living in university housing, and Marie is more communicative, proactive, patient, and easy to reach than a literal government-funded public university's housing department. As first-time home renters moving in from an entirely different area of the state, she has handled our countless questions with so much clarity and always answers much sooner than we expect. I have never experienced a level of professionalism and customer service like Marie's, and I mean that sincerely!

I’ll be moving into a rental managed by Kunkel Wittenauer Group in a few days, and the experience so far has been excellent. Kath, the person I worked with throughout the application and approval process, made everything smooth from start to finish. She answered all my questions clearly, responded to emails promptly, and was consistently polite and respectful on the phone and over email.
The company’s online portal is fast, clear, and very user‑friendly. I also appreciate the technology they use for scheduling showings and communicating with potential tenants. It’s efficient and makes the whole process feel modern and well‑organized. A very positive experience leading up to move‑in.
