A nice alternative to Barnes and Noble. When I first moved up here (pre covid) they seemed kinda expensive, but for what I buy their prices haven't gone up since, so now compared to the rest of the world they are affordable. Staff have been nice every time I've gone in. Their location changed, which I'm sure is confusing some folks because the old building still has the name up, so I've attached a picture of the front of the new building.

I can’t emphasis enough the overwhelming friendliness of the staff at Virginia Book Company. I went to the store to do an exchange only to find them in the process of moving to a new breathtaking location a few doors down! Sarah, one of the owners, welcomed me in, dug through multiple totes with Amanda, another staff member, climbing over boxes to find the shirt I wanted. I was so impressed, grateful, and excited to find my first “place” to become a regular at in RVA! Thanks Sarah & Tiffany, you rock!!

I visited to pick up a package from their UPS access point and even though they were working with other customers, they made sure I was taken care of in a fair and considerate manner. They seem like some of the nicest bookstore staff I've ever had the pleasure of chatting with.

Great selection of VCU apparel and miscellaneous items. I got two decals, but they have so much more like lanyards and other cool stuff. My fiancée that goes to VCU has also had an amazing experience with the book rental side of business. She was able to return a book easily before the return deadline, and received her books on time as well. Definitely one of the cheaper options on campus for book rentals and merchandise! Great family owned business too. They should expand to other colleges!

The best place to get your textbooks. Don't even bother going to the Barnes & Noble down the street because you'll end up paying way more than you have to, unless you can only find your textbook there. The staff is super friendly here and the prices are reasonable. Plus, although I haven't bought spiritwear from here, there's a pretty good selection.

Textbooks here are a lot cheaper and the same quality as those at Barnes and Noble! And the staff and atmosphere are a lot more pleasant than Bookholders. It's a small place, but they do have some merch and school supplies (like Chemistry goggles and notebooks) as well. Their sell-back policy for textbooks is a lot easier than Bookholders' and you can actually get some money back for what they can take.
