Went in for a quick stop while in the area. It’s small and a little outdated but still pretty cool if you’re into space. Saw everything in 20mins and love it. Outdoor space and gift shop needs a little updating.

To most, Goddard is a collection of high-tech buildings, but to those of us who grew up in these halls, it was a neighborhood of giants. I spent my youth with 'free reign' of the center, wandering the corridors of Building 7 and Building 29, exploring giant vacuum chambers and watching the creaking stress tests of the Landsat-D.
It was a place where your neighbor was a rocket scientist by day and a theater legend by night—like the great Harvey Walden, whose Tevye in 'Fiddler on the Roof' is still etched in my memory. It was a place where my name was inscribed on an access cover of the Solar Max Mission, orbiting the sun while I watched the launch from the ground. From the leadership of Admiral Dick Truly to the intricate craftsmanship of engineers like Bill Powell, Goddard wasn't just about the hardware; it was about the 'Ad Astra' spirit of the people who built the future. I am a Navy veteran now, but my internal compass was set right here, in the shadow of these test stands.

We visited the Goddard Space Center in Maryland recently and had slightly higher expectations than what the visitor center offers. It's a relatively small space, but it's packed with interesting and informative exhibits. We went on a Saturday later in the day, so some activities, like the movie screenings, were already closed. The outdoor displays could use a bit more maintenance, in my opinion. Overall, though, it was a good and worthwhile experience.

The Goddard Space Center is off Route 295,
between Baltimore & Washington. It’s FREE,
parking available, picnic tables, and gift shop.
Home Schoolers, Middle School, and High School students would benefit the most.
They sponsor events and programs. They
have a theater which they show short videos.
We were there for 2 hours. You could spend
more time. If you have small children the Patuxent Research Refuge is close which is
Very nice to see.

This spot was so nice! Their gift shop is really cute too. I wanted to get a shirt after all their stuff sold out, so he went through everything to find me the one I wanted in my size!
I love that.
The planetary sciences team is great!

What an unexpected local find! Thanks to kidsquarantineandme on IG for leading me here. Living in Fairfax,it's about a 40 minute drive and it was worth the "trip" to MD!
You'll be following signs to the Visitor Center. There's a nice open lot for parking and great views. The center is like a mini museum with all interactive displays, an outdoor area, and a theatre. They even have a scavenger hunt that your kiddos can do to find fun facts throughout the exhibits. My son loved checking his answers with the staff and got some stickers to take home! They spent two hours here and would have stayed longer if it wasn't closing for the day.

It was an exciting experience and learning trip for my kids. It is must visit if you are around the place and your kids are interested about space and what NASA does.

Once of the most hallowed regions for one of the most iconic and enduring feats mankind has ever done. Anyone who is a space related nerd or an engineer of any kind plus obliviously anyone who is interested should visit here once things open again eventually. It's a wonderful place that holds museum like exhibition stands of adventures mankind has done to reach to space as well as some stuff from space. Highly recommended!

Awesome place to visit when in the Greebelt area and you have a kid who really likes things about space exploration.
