The school is currently affiliated with both the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and… The School of Radiography, part of the Imaging Services Department at Bradford Regional Medical Center, is a full time 24-month program that provides didactic and clinical instruction to each enrolled student. The school is currently affiliated with both the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Jamestown Community College. More than 800 hours of a student’s time is spent in the classroom, and an additional 2,800 hours of clinical education is provided through the program. Students attending the program are required to rotate through clinical affiliate sites including UPMC Kane in Kane, Pa.; Warren General Hospital in Warren, PA.; Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport, Pa.; Penn Highlands Elk in St. Mary’s, Pa.; Olean General Hospital, Olean Medical Group in Olean, NY; Penn Highlands Clearfield in Clearfield, Pa., as well as Bradford Regional Medical Center. The didactic portion of the program is provided at the BRMC campus. The classroom is located adjacent to the Radiology Department on the second floor of the main building of the hospital. Currently, the school may accept 16 students per year into the program. Because of its small class size and faculty/staff to student ratio, our program provides individual attention with an emphasis on clinical experience. The program is separated into two, one-year phases with each year divided into semesters. The first year is heavily weighted on the didactic side with classroom work three times a week and clinical experience twice a week. In this phase the student will be introduced to the science of Radiologic Technology and the different components to creating an acceptable x-ray. The second year consists of three days of clinical and two days of classroom work. In this phase emphasis is placed on clinical competency and preparation for the American Registry of Radiologic Technology exam. New classes start the third week in August of each year. Upon completion of the program, the student receives a certificate of completion and may be eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam. Opportunities for advancement are excellent following the required 2-year basic education. The graduate Radiographer can further his / her career through continuing education and experience. Areas of specialization include: Nuclear Medicine, Special Procedures, Ultrasonography, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Radiation Therapy and Mammography. The School of Radiography at Bradford Regional Medical Center is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the accreditation of traditional and distance delivery education programs in radiology, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance and medical dosimetry. The program has a full eight-year accreditation with the next review date in January 2031. Effectiveness data for the program will be available on the JRCERT and BRMC websites. Read more
