He also has a particular interest in treating patients within the hospital setting and working to help improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Dr. Marchese’s research focuses on war veteran patients and the prevalence of incidental adrenal enlargement on CT scans of the abdomen, as well as their risk of prostate cancer in type 2 diabetes with vitamin D deficiency. He has presented his research at endocrinology conferences. In addition to his research, Dr. Marchese is an academic and teaches residents at Stamford Hospital and medical students at Columbia University. He enjoys facilitating classes and mentoring the next generation of physician leaders as they learn evidence-based care approaches and best practices for the delivery of excellent patient care. Throughout his career, Dr. Marchese is committed to active volunteering. As an undergraduate, he volunteered at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in New York, supporting staff throughout the hospital and winning the Volunteer Service Award. As a medical student, he provided free clinic sessions and medical care to people in Dominica, donating time, financial resources, and medical supplies.
