He returned to his home state of New Jersey to earn his medical doctorate at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. For residency training, Dr. Wolferz chose the University of Utah for its distinctive blend of community and university training. During residency, he served as chief resident and was awarded the Utah Academy of Family Physicians Resident Leadership Award in 2023.
