Heard about their apple fritters and decided to go in and try one. Huge chunks of apple in there, and it was made to order! Very fresh and just like apple fritters the old fashioned way. Friendly service. Reasonable prices.

The food options, drinks, and the customer service make Purple Penguin Cafe a must-visit in Leslieville! The cinnamon sugar, light crispy coating, and the tartness of the fresh apple fritters make it a delicious treat for any time of the day.

I absolutely loved the variety of the lemonades - I got the hibiscus tea lemonade and it was the perfect balance between a sweet, tart lemonade and the tart hibiscus tea flavour.

A staff member also helped me pick out a lovely smoked salmon Montreal bagel sandwich; it could’ve used some more salmon and more even spreading of the cream cheese but nonetheless, was a great sandwich!

I came here on a Sunday morning for a quick breakfast bite with a friend. The food was delicious and the staff were ver friendly. It is a very nice little cafe! I really enjoyed the Avocado and Tomato bagel. If you’re looking for a quick casual bite for breakfast or great coffee/tea, Purple Penguin is the place!

So delicious! Stopped here for lunch one day when passing by. We had the turkey club, the purple pig, & the ham apple Brie sandwich. Coffees were equally as amazing and the owner is a very friendly, welcoming lady. We loved it so much we stopped back in for coffee and breakfast the following day before leaving the city. Easy parking on the side street right nearby. Quick service. Was thanked upon leaving, with a beautiful smile! We will be back!

I decided to give this place a try,

They are super accommodating to allergies (Peanut and Gluten)

Food was really good, drinks were good

Dropped in for a quick breakfast this morning, pleasantly surprised! Counter service was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast English muffin and western sandwiches both delicious. Nice selection of tea and coffees. Overall vibe was local, laid-back, efficient, and friendly.

Hi!!! I usually don’t write reviews cause I’m too anxious lol but I came here to get some hot chocolate and omg!! It was really good!! I also got a lemonade (I forgot what it was called but it was blue!!! A very whimsical drink 🙂‍↕️) I was looking for a cozy place to draw and I was recommended to go to the purple penguin and it was really cute and I loved the vibe 😭🙏🏼 The service was great and fast. The barista, he was also really kind. It felt homey and I haven’t been able to go back yet, but I want to try more things from the menu for sure! 😤😤 Thank you to the workers at purple penguin!! Your hot chocolate was awesome 🫵🏼😩🙌🏼

Feel obligated to share a review - Got a purple pig panini, snow white salmon bagel and some fritters

If you look at the photo, the panini thats supposed to come with baked chicken, the chicken is almost as thin as the bacon, one single slice of chicken breast, with caramelized onions and some greens, I was very shocked to see because that panini costs 15.95 before tax. Would really appreciate to have more meat at this price range considering it's a self service casual cafe.

Overall taste was not bad, but I just cant justify, 15.95++ for a panini with a single slice of thinest chicken breast i have ever seen.

Great spot for takeout, you can sit and dine in as well. Quality food and coffee with great ingredients. It's order and seat yourself, your number will be called when your food and drinks are ready. It could be considered a bit pricey but I will say it's worth it if you're treating yourself or going out to catch up with a friend.

I have been to the PP previously and found the food good notwithstanding the high price for very basic ingredients. Price should reflex also quality of taste and ingenuity of cook.

Sadly my recent breakfast was appalling not with any price. I ordered a breakfast muffin with egg, cheese and bacon. The entire meal was greasy and worst of all the bacon was barely cooked. A health hazard. All for $10. I know people like their bacon cooked to various crispness; however one should not have to special request that the bacon be edible. Altogether a disappointing experience. Much better to cook at home.

The Purple Pig Sandwich is the Best combination of flavours & one of my favourite sandwiches to get. Chicken, brie, caramelized onions, bacon YUMMY. Great little spot to grab a casual meal with a friend or two, there's several tables. Friendly & welcoming!

Very nice little cafe. Chill vibes. Friendly staff. Lots of goodies and great brews. Try their fritters. They are all so good and are made fresh to order. It's all about the apple fritter for us. Clean facility. Clean washrooms. Bicycle racks nearby. Buses and trams stop nearby. No credit card surcharge. Free WiFi.
