They ripped off my mother for $3000
Told her they only except cash, never showed up.
My mother being elderly, not speaking English was taken advantage of.
Have legit roofers now, confirmed nothing was done
The phone numbers are no longer working
Filed a claim in small claims court, on my mother behalf.
Got more than enough on them, lawyer said
Just the statement they gave us is more then enough, total joke
BEWARE THEY ARE NOT LISTED WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU

This is the first time I have ever reviewed a company. Like James I got a quote from Ample Roofing. Paul came July 31st and gave me a quote of $4,500. I agreed to the quote and he said they would start the next day, August 1st. When they showed up to do the roof they took me up on the roof and showed me that my roof needed new plywood. The price soared to $35,000. I was floored, and I should have stopped the work right there. But Paul seemed like an honest guy, so I let them continue. I know my roof was bad, but the price seemed outrageous. I had asked Paul about my eavestrough and back down spout. He told me his crew would take care of securing the eavestrough, and fixing the down spout at no extra cost. They finished the roof that day, and said they would be back the next day to do the down spout. This is where there really got me upset. They never showed up the next day. I called Paul, and he said he would take care of it. Guess what, he never showed up again. After numerous text messages, and phone calls they still never showed up. Paul even promised me that I was a priority to get the work done. I am such a priority that now when I call the two phone numbers that I have for them, the lines just hang up. If I can save one person from making the same mistake of trusting Paul, then I have done what I wanted to. It has been 53 days since my roof was done, and they still haven't finished everything that they had promised me. These guys do not stand by their word.

After a cold call by Ample roofing (Edward) I decided to let them do the work because his quote was reasonable compared to others I'd gotten and he stated no payment was required until the job was completed. This is not my home, I was acting on behalf of my 90 Y.O mother. He stated he had an opening for the next morning and it was a simple strip and install of shingles for $7000.
The next morning a crew showed up at 8am, all Chinese workers and none spoke English but they got to work right away at stripping the old shingles. At some point Edward showed up and assessed the state of the plywood on the roof, the house is 55 years old. The wood was bad, he called me to the roof to show me and I agreed the wood was rotten. He said this would be extra of course and he would give me a new quote.
Within 10 minutes he called to say the new quote was $26,000. I almost choked, as did my mother but we felt trapped as the roof was almost stripped at this point and I had never got quotes from other companies for a complete roof replacement. Reluctantly he was told to go ahead. This is where the problems started.
He now said he needed some money before the job was completed because of the added expense and I gave him $7000 cash. This was going against everything I felt was right and was trying to avoid with notoriously crooked roofers. He now said the old wood was not up to todays code and he would need to put thicker plywood on the roof. I agreed since the roof was 55 years old and in bad shape. As the repairs were underway I noticed that he wasn't replacing all the wood as I was told and was using the same thickness wood which he earlier said wasn't up to code. When I questioned him on this he said his father used that on an Air B'N'B so it was acceptable, but that's not what I was told earlier. The fact I questioned him seemed to upset him and now he said the $26,000 was plus tax, taking the final total to $29,000 ($19,000 taxable $7000 cash) and he said the job would be completed the same day and needed payment that afternoon. He said to make the draft payable to 17092695 Canada Corp. I figured this was his business number. As I was walking away he changed that to have the draft made out to Mohammad Hasan Rahman whom he said was his father's supplier. Nothing was sitting right with me about any of this and I was feeling my mother was being taken advantage of, in hindsight I should have refused payment but they were still working away and I didn't want the job stopped midway with an open roof. I got the draft and asked him to itemize the taxes on the bill as seniors can claim some home improvements on their taxes. He refused to do that, instead he just put the total paid on the bill. (This was reported to CRA, they will be investigating).
The work was not completed the same day, they returned in the morning and finished by 4pm, that was a Friday. The next afternoon two Chinese men showed up at the door looking for Edward stating they were the sub contractors who did the job and Edward never paid them and was now ghosting them (I found out the business number listed above was their company you can google the number, Owner name is Yuyang Song Business #789283835RC00001) They asked me to pay them and when I refused they showed me text messages with pictures of the roof that corroborated the fact they only charged Ample Roofing $12,000 for the roof. They were both shocked when I told them what my mother was charged, $29,000 total $17,000 more for doing nothing but subcontracting the job out. I was furious.
I called Edward the following Tuesday he didn't argue that he jacked the price up and we agreed that he would return $5000 to my mother (not enough but I would take anything at that point) and give her an itemized bill and the warranty paperwork. There were two more conversations with Edward assuring me it would get settled and now I've been ghosted by him and still have no warranty paperwork or itemized bill. I mentioned he would be getting a bad review and he stated he would be able to counter any bad review I posted.

I don’t usually write long reviews, but this roofing experience was exceptional from start to finish and deserves to be shared. From the moment I reached out, the team was professional, responsive, and incredibly knowledgeable. The initial inspection was thorough, with clear explanations and photos to help me understand exactly what needed to be done and why. The quote was detailed and transparent—no surprises or hidden fees. Once scheduled, the crew arrived right on time, protected my property, and worked with impressive efficiency and attention to detail. They discovered a few minor issues during the tear-off and addressed them promptly without trying to upsell or cut corners. The workmanship on the new roof was flawless, and the cleanup afterward was meticulous—not a single nail or scrap left behind. What truly stood out, though, was the follow-up. They checked in days later to ensure everything was perfect and even came back to fix a small gutter issue I hadn’t noticed. In an age where good customer service is rare, this team went above and beyond. The new roof looks fantastic and has already withstood several storms without a problem. I now have total peace of mind knowing the job was done right.
