Being one of the highly recommended Italian restaurants in the city, I had really high expectations regarding the food. But I can’t help but feel disappointed but the food that was served, especially the appetisers. For the appetisers we got the beef tartare and new potato. While I appreciate the creativity in the new potato, the twist in beef tartare was not a good combination. For 24CAD the portion of the beef tartare was really little and most importantly the flavour was off. It came with a sauce that was kind of like Chinese style sweet and sour pork and doesn’t work really well. It also had beans on top which I think doesn’t match well with the beef tartare as well. The potatoes were okay, I loved the combination with pistachio. And the cacio e pepe had a lemon tang to it which adds an interesting flavour. I also wish they had more pasta options but noticing that they have a smaller kitchen it made sense to keep a small selection. Overall, I would rate this a 3.5 but closer to a 3. I would come back for the cacio e pepe but perhaps there are other Italian restaurants in the city in a similar price range that would have a better menu overall.

Love this spot. Has a quaint neighborhood buvette vibe. Great to see a lot of local wines by the glass (cans). The Vendetta Martini is to die for as is their Bitter Greens Salad (a riff off of a Caesar salad). We also had the Duck Tahu Malfaldine and the Hiramasa (Amberjack) Tuna Crudo. Everything was amazing and I can't wait to go back!

had a very serious and frightening experience at Bar Vendetta.

When ordering, I clearly told my server multiple times that I have a severe anaphylactic tree nut allergy and stated that there cannot be any tree nuts on my dish. He acknowledged this and also recognized me from a previous visit where my allergy had been properly accommodated.

Despite that, I was served a dish that contained tree nuts.

After a few bites, I felt something was wrong and asked to confirm whether there were nuts. The server returned and told me there were, and admitted fault that he had forgotten to ring in my allergy, which resulted in a mistake in the kitchen.

I then went into anaphylactic shock in the restaurant. I had to use my EpiPen and call an ambulance, and was taken to the hospital.

As a result, I now have a $300 ambulance bill and approximately $100 to replace my EpiPen, along with the physical and emotional impact of a life-threatening reaction that was entirely preventable. I was a server for 5 years and allergies need to be taken seriously.

For context, I have eaten here before and disclosed the same allergy, and the restaurant was able to accommodate it properly. That’s what makes this even more concerning—this was not a situation where they didn’t know how to handle it. It’s complete negligence and I now have hundreds of dollars in medical bills because of it. I have not been offered any sort of solution to this by the bar.

I did everything I was supposed to do:

* clearly disclosed my allergy
* stated that it is anaphylactic
* emphasized no tree nuts on my dish

This incident occurred because that information was not properly communicated or followed.

I hope this is taken seriously, because mistakes like this can have very serious consequences.
I now have an over $400 bill because of you guys. Disgusting and unprofessional.

An excellent meal, we left no crumb behind. One of the best steak tartares I've ever had, so much so that I ordered it again for "dessert". Already looking forward to our next visit!

bar vendetta is a masterclass in hospitality. my friend and i sat at the bar and were taken care of by a bartender who was the definition of "textbook service"—so welcoming and charming, we honestly wished he’d just pull up a chair and join us.

he suggested pairing the meatballs with the cheesy pull-apart bread, and he was spot on. for the mains, the cacio e pepe crown was a literal work of art—incredibly thoughtful execution—and the rapini provided the perfect hit of freshness. this is the kind of place you can take anyone to and be guaranteed a lovely, warm evening.

Such a cute and cozy restaurant! All the lighting is very moody and they have candles on each table. I recommend making a reservation because they don’t have much seating available. Service was attentive and seamless. I highly recommend the bitter greens. We also tried the new potatoes, the flavour was great but the stracciatella got a bit soupy as the dish sat which threw me off. Both the trecce and tagliatelle were cooked perfectly al dente. Most of the pastas they offer are served in a butter sauce so they can be quite rich, but still tasty!

Bar Vendetta is a small upscale restaurant/bar on Dundas West. They have a small, but refined Italian cuisine menu with some delicious dishes included! My friends and I shared a few dishes, we started with the burrata and red pepper jelly as an appetizer and got an order of focaccia bread on the side. The dip came with sesame snaps which we thought was an odd combo, they were also really chewy and had a hard texture, so ordering the focaccia with it was the way to go!

For dinner, we got the Spaghetti Pomodoro and the Crown Cacio e Pepe. Both dishes were fresh, hot and very tasty. The pomodoro was flavourful and went perfectly with the ricotta and basil. The crown cacio e pepe is their most popular dish and for good reason. It is stuffed with Ricotta inside and folded so cute into a nice swirl! The lemon flavour balances out the buttery taste to the sauce, it all blends very well. Also very filling, despite there not being any protein!

We sat at the bar and found it very coney and aesthetic. Ambient lighting and set up would make this spot perfect for a date!

The food was good, but it leaned towards style over substance. The dishes and styling felt engineered for instagram. I ordered the bitter greens salad, new potatoes and spaghetti pomodoro. The bitter greens salad was my favorite of the three.

A very cute and cozy spot, I have been here twice already. The first time I visited in April, I was very impressed, basically love everything I ordered. Last week I visited again and the menu seemed changed from the last time, which is good.

I enjoyed the garlic bread. But the tomato bruschetta wasn’t as good as last time, don’t know if the recipe changed. Overall it’s still a pleasant experience.

Vibey, hole in the wall, hidden gem. Menu was straightforward - there's only 4 pastas to order for mains. A few interesting appetizers, with your standard Italian options. The meatballs were great. I couldn't tell how fresh the focaccia bread was or if it was just freshly warmed up. Might have got more attention with a couple more herbs.
I also enjoyed the new potatoes with the caviar - that was unique but the potatoes could have had more flavor (perhaps BBQ'd instead of boiled).
The pastas sealed the deal and really pushed up my opinion of the restaurant. Serious attention was paid to the flavour combinations. We tried three out of four and they were great.

This small, narrow bar is dimly lit inside. The menu consists of mainly appetizers/tapas and a handful of Pasta dishes.

I ordered the Meatballs with Tomato Sauce and Basil Pesto as my starter. For my main, I chose the Rigatoni with sweet Corn, Eggplant, Chili, Scallion and Basil.

The meatballs didn’t stand out in any way, but were good. The Rigatoni was cooked just right and the combination of ingredients made this a very flavourful dish. I enjoyed this Pasta.

Service was friendly and efficient, while the prices were very reasonable.

Five out of five is rare for me but this was one of the best solo dining experiences I’ve ever had. I was greeted warmly and chose to sit in the front at the bar at about 5:30 on a Thursday. The wonderful Nicole served me and let me know I could get half orders of many of the dishes to try, which is what I did. Everything was fabulous, from the Palomino cocktail to the to-die-for miso gelato Nicole had me try on the house. Hands down the best gelato I’ve ever had, super creamy and smooth, tasted like carmel but better. Oh and the tuna crudo was probably my favorite, and loved the scallop, new potatoes (very rich), and rapini as well. Definitely going back.
