Hands down, best tacos I've had in the city. To be honest, they rival, if not beat, the tacos I've had in LA. The tacos are seriously loaded, and god the meat is actually flavourful!!! That's the one thing I often struggle with, is lack of flavour in the meat, which I then try to overcompensate with salsa. This is not the case with Itacate. Absolutely incredible.
4 tacos, for $32. A bit on the pricier side, but worth every penny.

I’m trying to make sense of the pricing at Itacate.

The sausage pambazo was massive—easily enough for two meals—and at $16, it felt like great value.

On the other hand, the volcán and lengua tacos were quite small. While everything tasted fresh, the cuts didn’t feel particularly premium, especially at $10 each.

Prices are tax-included, which I appreciate—but the pricing across items feels inconsistent given the portion sizes and perceived quality.

nice spot for authentic tacos in town. the beef tongue was particularly tasty as well as the cheesy beef. great hot sauces on the side. two tacos for $20 feels a bit on the pricy side considering they’re also still cash only. you might still be a bit hungry afterwards but it definitely is tasty (though i wish they had a bit more toppings). service is friendly and fast, 5/5. it’s also a little store so you can buy a small variety of latin goods. not much atmosphere since it’s casual and small plastic tables and plastic plates. but i don’t really care about that since the point was the food!

A real Toronto hidden gem. I want to gate-keep this spot, but they deserve the exposure. The ladies running this establishment have to be doing some kind of sorcery in the kitchen because the food is so damn good.

They’re slinging out some of the best and most authentic tacos I’ve had in the city. I had the lengua (beef tongue) and suadero tacos - absolutely sensational. My friend and I also shared a chilaquiles with some fried eggs on top - delicious. Two tacos alone had me stuffed, they do not skimp on the meat here! The lengua in particular was my favourite, the meat melted in my mouth like butter.

The atmosphere was great. Very big on the homey vibes. You can see the love and care the owners/staff put into their food. Feels like my long-lost Mexican tías were taking care of me. I will definitely be back again, and again, and again!

It's one of my favourite Mexican spots in Toronto. It serves delicious tortas and tacos. The place is small, with just a few tables, but I usually order takeout to enjoy at home. The flavours are reminiscent of Mexico City, and I love it! Also, the portions are pretty big.

This place might not look like it but it is a premium Mexican food restaurant, with this I mean that even if is a very small and old-looking place, the authenticity and level of flavour on their menu are at another level.
You will be amazed by these places served by a few Mexican women who prepare a large variety of delicious food.
The tacos have a great portion, I highly recommend the shrimp and suadero (chef kiss) their fried quesadillas have the best quality of cheese and are crispy and hot, their regular quesadillas are so large and great, had mine with chicharrón and were spectacular (a bit too salty but is normal with chicharrón)
The Torta ahogada is a dream, not much places offer this dish and as a Tapatía and so happy to find it on the menu.
Be advised that they only take cash or e-transfers and the sitting area is very limited.

Tacos are a little pricier here, but very good and authentic. Tacos are a good size and great tasting meat. Al pastor and lengua was my favourite. Service is friendly, but wait time a little long, and there is not much comfortable seating. Best to take out.

So yummy! Will be back again. I can’t remember the name of the taco but I got the one that has pineapple and one of the pork varieties. The pineapple one was crispy and spicy, perfect!

Service is good, food is average and place is not nice. It's kind of clean but made me feek blue and it takes just a few tables and chairs.
Would we come back?
May be but not after trying many more around.
It looks like it is more for takeout than dining in.

I love tacos and this is by far the best place for them in the city! It's a small butcher shop that sells Tacos in the front but they are authentic with the double tortilla used. I especially enjoyed the Tacos Al Pastor and go back about once a month!

The prices have gone up recently but the place is usually busy so worth visiting. They only have 2 tables and a few bar stools so I rarely stay there to eat although I've done it a couple of times. Definitely a must try!
