I visited recently on a date with my hubby and we had absolutely amazing experience here.

The staff was friendly and helpful, environment was nice and clean. Food was spectacular, very unique high quality options. The drink selections was so varied, so many alcoholic and coffee options and very fancy stuff.
And when I forgot my phone in the bathroom and had to run back, the staff already had it behind the counter!!

Thank you so much to everyone there that day, you guys are fantastic!!

This is one of my favourite places to come hang out and have a beverage, get work done, grab a bite, and enjoy the lakefront atmosphere. The service I receive has always been cheerful and attentive (especially the hostess and the young gentleman server with brown hair). The food has never disappointed me, and I tend to order pub type snacks, nothing complex. Coffee based bevvies are great and they even have hojicha, which I have yet to try here. I just love the spaciousness and peace on the patio with the view of the kids’ mist pad and the boats and water taxis.

Great place on the waterfront! The food was delicious but the staff were a little spacey. I came here in the morning and the two people working were so lovely and the coffee was great but when we came back for dinner, the evening staff were definitely not their top talent. They kept forgetting parts of the order, didn't understand the menu well and were a bit rude and also, no where to be found when we wanted to order more drinks.

Food, coffee, everything was great!

The view I'm sure is beautiful in the summer but there was all this FIFA stuff setup that blocked the waterfront view

Beautiful restaurant, very casual and fun patio, but the food is mediocre at best. Service was pretty great for the most part.

Draft beer was fresh and reasonably priced. Food was reasonably priced too but everything we tried were very uninspiring and bland.

The poutine was terrible. Gravy was bland, there wasn't enough cheese. The gravy was not hot enough either, didn't melt any of the cheese.

Their wings are criminal. I ordered 2lbs, half the hot flavor and the other half BBQ. I guess the server misheard us and they were all BBQ. They were decently sized, but I suspect they weren't actually 2lbs.

They had the most bland BBQ sauce on them. There wasn't even enough sauce to coat the wings. I suspect they didn't toss them in the sauce, they just poured some over after plating, as the wings had no sauce underneath. It felt like it was made by somebody who had already decided they were gonna quit at the end of day.

Would've preferred if they were breaded, but they were not.

Boxcar Social might have one of the best patio views in the city, but that is literally where the positives end.

The service is nonexistent. Staff seem completely disengaged, like acknowledging customers is optional. Basic things like taking an order or checking in feel like an inconvenience to them. It is not just slow, it is apathetic.

The overall experience feels cold and transactional, with zero effort put into human interaction. You are left wondering if anyone actually cares that you are there.

If you are going strictly for the patio and willing to tolerate frustratingly poor service, fine. Otherwise, there are far better places in the city that understand hospitality.

We chose this restaurant for New Year’s Eve and it was an excellent choice. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was great. They even brought us champagne, which made the night extra special. We were very satisfied and will definitely come back.

The place is good if you want drinks and drinks and drinks
The atmosphere at this time is festive ready for Christmas and holidays and being a weekend was packed with waiting
If you want food then you only get bar food and finger food with your drinks
Not the place to be in for cosy dinning
The tables are small and you sit on stools which are not really comfortable
The place is meant for drinkers so have a drink and be merry

Great location! We sat on the patio, and had a great view of the harbour.
We had two visitors from abroad, and they asked for cappuccinos with less milk. I was very surprised and impressed when the barista personally came out to our table to clarify how they would like their coffee. I have never experienced such a high level of personalized service in any other cafe in Toronto.
Our server was also very friendly and polite. It was a great experience!
The cappuccino was very good, and so were the potato chips prepared in-house.

Food is pretty typical waterfront pub. Standard fare. Decent selection of beers on tap. View off the patio is excellent. Great to enjoy the sun and a cold drink.

Lovely cafe on the waterfront.
Stopped in for lunch - staff were friendly and service was good.
Had a salmon bagel it was fantastic and my son said his chicken burger was the best he'd had.

Recommended.

Jack was a great server, friendly and just pleasant to deal with. The food was great and I LOVE THE WIDE SELECTION OF 0% BEERS AND COCKTAILS.

We were looking for a place to chill at the waterfront and have a drink and read ☺️ This place fit the bill. The music was a bit loud but easy to ignore when engrossed in a good book. My kid enjoyed her hash browns. We loved our drinks: matcha latte and chai latte, both with oat milk.

ordered the falafel bowl and an iced latte. The ingredients in the bowl were fresh, though the falafel itself was a bit dry. The iced latte was sweeter than I prefer, as I usually take my coffee black with just milk. The patio was quite busy, even during a sunny weekday lunch hour, with only one server managing all the tables. That said, the ambiance was lovely—especially with the location being so close to the water.
