Surprisingly good food and actually impressive cocktails. I do not expect a random tiny tavern space in a train station to impress me, and yet they did.
Things to note: quick service - getting food to eat there is viable with only around half an hour until your train, though I'd recommend longer if possible to enjoy it.
They will give you take away cups for your drinks, so no need to leave them (or down them) when your train starts boarding. They have a display over the bar, so you shouldn't lose track of your train either.
Would recommend. Potentially even if just in the area and not travelling.

Stopped by Tavern in the Square while passing through Boston on my way home after a weekend of traveling for clinical work. The atmosphere was lively and the service was great. My soup unfortunately came out cold, but the staff were friendly and attentive and the rest of the experience was good overall.

Inside South Station, this centrally located mini-restaurant has good food served fast, a full bar, friendly servers, sports on tv, and a screen behind the bar that has the Commuter Rail departures to keep you on time.

I ordered a cup of chowder. Great bargain for Boston at $7.00. Great service. Waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Good ambiance. The Sam Adams Pumpkin Spice Lager with Cinnamon Sugar rim was delicious. However, the chowder was terrible. Very milky, the potatoes were crunchy, and practically no clams. Very Disappointing.

Warm and welcoming tavern! Huge beer selection. Service is great! Perfect way to pass time, meet people while you wait for your train. Highly recommend. Reasonably ♿️ accessible!
