I don’t normally write reviews when something goes wrong, because mistakes happen. What matters to me is what a business does AFTER the mistake — and this Valvoline absolutely knocked it out of the park.
After getting my oil changed here, my skid plate came loose and ended up dragging on the ground. Obviously, not ideal. 😂 I called the store and spoke with Ty, who I later found out is the assistant manager. From the beginning, there were no excuses, no runaround, and no trying to pass the blame. He just wanted to get it taken care of.
Then came the part I definitely wasn’t expecting.
Tyler, the STORE MANAGER, actually came to my house. Not a tow truck. Not “bring it back when you can.” The manager himself showed up at my house, got down on my garage floor, jacked my car up, and replaced the bolts holding the skid plate on.
THAT is customer service.
Anyone can look good when everything goes perfectly. You find out what kind of business you’re dealing with when something goes wrong. Ty and Tyler took ownership of the situation and went way above and beyond to make it right.
They turned something that easily could have resulted in a bad review into a reason for me to leave a 5-star one.
Seriously impressed. This is how you earn a customer’s trust and their future business. Huge respect to Ty and Tyler for the way they handled it. 👏👏👏

I have spent my fair share of time in mechanics and other car related shops, and I have to say this Valvoline location in Layton is by far the best one I have been to. They gave me all the information as they went through the car, so I was on the same page the whole time, and they gave me their recommendations without being pushy about them (essentially it felt like they were informing me and helping me, not trying to get me to spend more money). They also topped off my other engine fluids! It was affordable, and I was in and out with an oil change and a tire rotation in 35 minutes. Special shout out to Dustin who was the lead on getting my car taken care of. Great service all around and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I showed up to see about an oil change never been there before and had some questions first. Everyone was really helpful. They explained everything. They do a really good service. The service manager was very patient when I was having trouble with my card to pay.
I recommend them, and for sure have all my vehicles serviced there. 👍

The team (and it was a team) of people that serviced my vehicle were prompt, very knowledgeable about my particular vehicle, and were able to answer specific questions about my vehicle's future maintenance needs and requirements. Service was very fast (under 10 minutes in and out) and was focused on quality and competence in delivering service. I was particularly impressed with the repeated checks by team members for oil leaks, both during the actual oil change process, but also by inspecting my vehicle as I exited the vehicle bay. I also noted the use of camera's to record actual actions taken, such as showing the new oil filter to the camera before installing the filter into my vehicle. Facility was new, clean, well organized (no clutter) and created an atmosphere of confidence in quality maintenance provided during my oil change service. I will definitely come to this location again when I am traveling to visit relatives in Utah and need an oil change.
