Spring through fall we build outdoor living spaces: custom decks and deck repair, fences and gates, pergolas and gazebos, paver and flagstone patios, walkways and steps, retaining walls, privacy screens, outdoor fireplaces and fire pits, hot tub surrounds, and low voltage landscape lighting. Through the Alberta winter we move indoors and take on framing for detached garages and additions, custom sheds and workshops, basement development, kitchens, bathrooms and whole home renovations. What we spec is chosen for the freeze and thaw cycles here. Sonotube footings set below frost line, joists at 16 inches on centre, double rim joists, staggered blocking, joist tape over every joist top, cut-end sealer on field cuts, GRK structural screws and Simpson Strong-Tie hangers sized to the joist. We build in Eva-Last, TimberTech and TruNorth composite, in cedar, and in pressure treated lumber. Every project starts with a 3D design and a site plan so you can see the build before a board is cut, and the design deposit is credited back at contract signing. Where a build needs a permit we prepare the drawings and permit package and coordinate the inspections. Insured and WCB certified, with a workmanship warranty on every build. We have two very large decks which require refinishing every few years. This year we hired Green Ladder Contractors to do the refinishing. We noted the following: things:
• These decks needed a lot of prep work involving pressure
washing, a considerable amount of sanding and some
replacements of planks. The prep work was done very
thoroughly.
• While the work was done as quickly as the weather
conditions allowed there was no compromise when it came
to waiting for dry conditions for applying the two coats of
stain.
• Pleasant, honest, and always working for a quality finished
product. We are very pleased with the final results.
