Overpriced for a musty-smelling room. Tiny bath towels (3 for 4 guests) . No provision of breakfast items for coeliacs. Use of single use disposable plastics for breakfast inexcusable in 2026.
Pool and whirlpool were good.

I recently stayed at the Wyndham Hotel in Cedar Rapids because it was the closest hotel to the airport. Overall, the property was average, but my experience with customer service made the stay memorable for all the wrong reasons.

When I first checked in, the door to my room would not latch or lock properly. As a woman traveling alone, and with the hotel being occupied predominantly by men, I did not feel safe staying in a room that wouldn't secure. I spoke with April at the front desk, and to her credit, she moved me to another room that locked properly. I appreciated that.

The following day, after returning from work, my room key no longer worked. When I went to the front desk, April explained that the reservation had only been for one night and that they had attempted to call me before charging the card on file for an additional night. I told her that was perfectly fine and simply asked to pay for the additional night and receive a new key.

Instead of helping me move on with my evening, she repeatedly emphasized that I hadn't paid for the room myself—that my company had—and continued explaining hotel policy, even after I acknowledged what she was saying. I repeatedly asked if everything had been taken care of and if I could please have my room key. Rather than simply providing it, she continued lecturing me about their policies and even reminded me that they had already upgraded my room as a courtesy.

When I mentioned that the original room's lock hadn't worked, she responded that I "could have left at that point." I found that response shocking. I then asked her if I had done something to upset her or if she was simply having a bad day. She told me it was because I wasn't listening to her. I explained that I had listened, understood the policy, and simply wanted my key so I could go to my room after a long workday. Only then did she hand me the key.

Before leaving the desk, I asked for her manager's name, and she told me it was Amy.

I've stayed in many hotels for work and have never been treated this way. There is a difference between explaining a policy and repeatedly talking down to a guest after the issue has already been resolved. Telling a guest they "could have just left" after being assigned an unsafe room with a broken lock is not acceptable customer service.

As the only Black guest I saw during my stay (aside from one employee), I left feeling uncomfortable and questioning whether I was treated differently. I can't say for certain what motivated the interaction, but it left me feeling singled out and disrespected.

The only positive part of my stay was that April initially moved me to a room with a functioning lock. Beyond that, the customer service I experienced fell well below the standard I expect from any hotel.

Watch out when you stay here. There’s a maximum rental per room posted on the back of the bedroom door. Pay close attention that. When they start booking up, that maximum amount means nothing to them. After staying through the weekend, I tried to extend through a Tuesday night. The Tuesday night rate went up over $80 per night over the weekend. I asked why and the owner said, “we are almost sold out so we can charge you more.” At least he was honest but immoral to say the least.

First off, don't go by the prices you see on Google Maps! $79 via Google, I paid $135(ish) when checked in. Stayed in Room #319, very roomy, jacuzzi, king size bed........you know I felt bad giving the clerk a hard time on the price(plus on the road for 6+ hours on the road)!!! Drawback is the window, I can easily hear things outside, and yes it is closed!!! And area construction making things difficult area hotels & gas station! I'm 56 years old, and need to stay in the Cedar Rapids again, I'll take Room 319 again!!!!!

From check-in to check-out, everything went smoothly. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the space was perfectly maintained. I really liked how cozy the room felt. And hotel was very clean and breakfast was super awesome. All the restaurants are very near to the hotel that’s a plus point
