We very much enjoyed our dinner experience at Ojo de Agua. The tacos were great and tasted very authentic (not Tex Mex). Service was good though I can see why some would find it too slow. It was fine and the waitress was helpful in explaining all the dishes knowing it was our first time. We also enjoyed the variety of fruits in the coconut bowl. We would definitely return.

I hate writing this review because I genuinely like the people and the atmosphere here. The service has always been friendly, the drinks are solid, and my first visit was great. The ceviche, fish tacos, and cocktails were all winners that time.

I liked it so much that I convinced a friend to come here for lunch before our IPIC movie. Unfortunately, that's when things went sideways. We both ordered the chicken tacos. Holy bland, Batman. I'm not a chef, but I can confidently say I could have done better than chunks of unseasoned chicken and avocado sitting on top of a tortilla. For $18 before tax, you've got to be kidding me. I recently got back from CDMX, and I can assure you there wasn't a single Mexican flavor anywhere in that dish.

Afterward, I checked the reviews to see if maybe this was just an off day. But I saw several other reviewers had the same complaint.

The frustrating part is that this seems like such an easy fix. A blue corn tortilla, flavorful shredded chicken, a little cheese, and some salsa on the side would go a long way. There's so much potential here.

Take a hard look at the menu, figure out what's working and what's not, and listen to your customers!!

I had the protein bowl, while my friends had the salmon tacos and birria sandwich.
They both got juices and commented how the juices were clearly made from fresh fruit. They definitely recommend.

The only thing we do NOT recommend is the queso fundido. The cheese was like cheese glue. Very sticky, but not melted enough to be enjoyable. There also was not enough chorizo mixed in. We barely touched it.

I give the food 3 stars because, despite the good presentation and flavor, there was one detail that marred the quality of what I tasted, and it's something of utmost importance: the temperature.In my case, the dishes arrived at the table already cold, which meant that some flavors were lost and I couldn't fully enjoy them. Otherwise, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the staff is very friendly. The dinner was being enlivened by a spectacular group of singers; I hope that on my next visit I can change my rating.
